Following tradition, President-Elect Donald J Trump and Vice-President Elect JD Vance place wreaths at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetary.
Wearing a long overcoat and gloves in the rainy, cold weather, President Trump placed a wreath on an easel at the tomb. He stood silently for a moment before Vice President-elect JD Vance did the same. After the wreaths were placed, a soldier played “Taps,” the sound echoing through the hallowed burial grounds. A somber event.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier serves as a symbolic grave for all war dead whose remains have not been found or identified. It began with one unknown service member from World War I and now has the remains of three unidentified service members.

It's even harder to imagine the anti-American, corruptocrats Biden and Harris doing this.
Watch the embedded video.
It’s “The Tomb of the Unknowns.”
There could be a sailor in there, based on how they chose him.
I think once Biden said he knew the guy.
Don’t stand in a crowd. One grenade will get you all.
“”I think once Biden said he knew the guy.””
That’s terrible - LOL. Tho’ I wouldn’t be surprised he’d say something like that.
I saw this today, and didn’t realize that it was a tradition.
Have all presidents elect done this as they approach inauguration?
Does anyone know who the other 3 people were?
::I saw this today, and didn’t realize that it was a tradition.::
I have to say that I didn’t know it was a tradition either. I sure don’t remember anything like that just 4 short years ago....or any other years!
That “tradition” struck me, too. I’ve somehow missed this “tradition” for 60 years.

"During the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on January 19, 2025, President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance were accompanied by two people who had lost family members in combat. Also present, watching from a distance, were Trump's wife, Melania Trump, and four of their children: Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka, and Tiffany. Various members of Trump's incoming Cabinet, including Pete Hegseth (pick for Secretary of Defense), Marco Rubio (Secretary of State-designate), and Tulsi Gabbard (pick for Director of National Intelligence), also attended the ceremony."I'm guessing the guests wanted to be anonymous.
Well, the President laying a wreath there is tradition; but this event may be particular to this time.
Apparently he was meeting at Arlington today with Gold Star families and those who lost people in the Kabul withdrawal; so maybe it was something arranged specially.

The most solemn ceremonies occur when the president of the United States, or the president’s designee, lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to mark the national observance of Memorial Day, Veterans Day or some other special occasion. Ceremonial wreath layings also occur during state visits of foreign dignitaries, who pay formal respects to the sacrifices of America’s veterans by placing a wreath before the Tomb.
One of my favorite places to visit wen we’re in DC visiting our son. The Marine Barracks is also very moving to watch as the have a Marine on top of a building playing taps at the end of the ceremony.
I thought they weren’t supposed to be in the same place.
