The Idaho House Education Committee advanced a bill last week that bans ideological flags from public schools. While supporters framed the legislation as a way to remove LGBTQ+ pride flags from classrooms, the law’s broad language extends to all ideological pride flags, including ones cherished by Trump supporters, patriot movements, and Christian nationalists.

I don’t see the connection between the two.

Students should be able to wear what they wish, and the only flags in a public building should be a State flag, and Old Glory.

More and more I’m starting to think that school uniforms aren’t such a bad idea.

“ More and more I’m starting to think that school uniforms aren’t such a bad idea.”

Agreed, and I would take it farther. Separate girls school and boys school through high school. Like it used to be.

Yes.

I get enough of this crap at the Catholic school we pay for our son. They let teachers do anything they damn well please, including fag support.

The First Amendment does not stop at the schoolhouse door.

Why do some of the very best schools require students wear a uniform?

ANS: So that students don't have clothing issues interfering with the curriculum. Rich kids don't have flashy clothes for assisting with looking down their noses at poor kids and poor kids don't have to feel bad about their clothes. Keeping all political and commercial nonsense out of schools is a great start to returning to the intended function of schools.

I support that new rule.

Sounds reasonable, reading the list of allowed flags.

Is this a ban on school classrooms and hallways or does it pertain to students? That’s a difference. The story doesn’t say.

I said, “Mom, what are you doin’? You’re ruining my rep”
She said, “You’re only sixteen, you don’t have a rep yet”
I said, “Mom, let’s put these clothes back, please?”
She said “No, you go to school to learn, not for a fashion show”
I said, “This isn’t Sha-Na-Na, come on mom, I’m not Bowzer
Mom, please put back the bell-bottom Brady Bunch trousers
But if you don’t want to, I can live with that, but
You gotta put back the double-knit reversible slacks”

1st Amend applies to Congress. Because “free speech” goes both ways. The school doesn’t have to allow it’s members to express themselves if it will go against the whole org and misrepresent them.

I deal with teachers given far too much “free speech” at the Catholic school our son attends. Fag stuff, communist stuff, endless black support, etc. it’s offensive to me and has naught to do with what they should be teaching, instead of preaching.

Public school, yes.

Of course, it is my opinion that public schools should not be at all so.....

I work in Hong Kong as a teacher and everyone has a uniform. It’s great. The problem is that while everyone wears the same uniform students will judge each other based upon their phones, backpacks, shoes, etc. But at least uniforms take away most of the problems.
