It's not a coincidence. The insurance companies are not idiots. CA limited what they could charge for premiums. Many of the insurance companies saw what was coming and bailed. Any idiot with a modicum of a brain could see this coming.
Insurance companies have been cancelling fire policies like crazy in California for a few years now after the devastating fires in Napa Valley, the Sierras, and the Santa Cruz range.

I still wonder if some individual Atlas Shrugged situations will develop in the deep blue areas of the country. With the advent of the return of President Trump, some of the pressure that would cause the ‘shrug’ would be alleviated for a while (illegal trespassers deported, lower energy costs, which lowers the price of, well, everything).

Not expecting and adequately preparing for wildfires in Los Angeles County is like not expecting and adequately preparing for snow anywhere near the Great Lakes in the winter time. It is sheer criminal negligence when you consider how much damage there has been, how many injuries there are and how many deaths there will be before this thing is done.
But, almost 100% guaranteed, the people of California and of Los Angeles County will learn nothing whatsoever from this, and continue to vote for the same idiotic people and policies. While there are certainly quite a number of people that don’t do so , on balance those people deserve what they have voted for and desired - asking them to think about second and third order consequences is like asking your cat to teach differential calculus.Again, not those who voted otherwise, just the great majority.

This was all a game to them. They figured if the earthquake wouldn’t strike then they could create a crisis with wildfire, ala Paradise, but on a larger scale for a larger payout.
All the western states were playing the game. Even Oregon got a payout.
Problem is that the LA fires have struck the heart of their power base...and the internet never forgets.
They may be on the defensive right now, but according to xiden’s announcement today - and as I predicted - CA government just won the lottery BIG TIME.

LA Mayor Karen Bass will be forced to resign over her failed leadership and Governor Gavin Newsome may well become a political casualty of the fires. However, there are enough idiots in LA to elect leftists with the same idiotic agendas. Perhaps I’m wrong and when thousands of people are now homeless and most of LA is in ashes the people will throw the leftist out, but I’m not optimistic.
Seems to me these incidents can lead to a great awakening and make cali great again.
