Whether you are a fan of the Bible or not. The show is really good from a Historical perspective.

I am a fan of the Bible not of the show. It may a have some historical information, but IMHO the whole thing is by and large one man's (Dallas Jenkins) personal, watered-down dramatized, interpretation of the Gospels. I don't like people getting their experience or impression of Jesus through the interpretation of a TV producer. It's too impressionable a medium, and I've heard many people be more enamored of the drama and made-up situations and dialogue in the show than what it says in the Bible: "Yeah, but in
The Chosen they said..."
I don't care if other people watch it; I think someone well-grounded in the Scriptures could enjoy it without being negatively influenced. It's just not my thing and, as a Bible teacher, I don't recommend it to others, but I don’t tell them not to watch it. There are guys in my Bible study group that watch it and like it and I tell them the same thing. Watch it. Don't watch it. It's up to them. It's just not for me. I don't base my opinion on what I've been told about from others, I have checked it out for myself to my own satisfaction. I'm very happy with just my Bible.
May you have a blessed and holy New Year.

Thank you for the more detailed comment. You are certainly NOT alone.
As a Bible teacher myself I enjoy the conversations and questions that inevitably come up from people who enjoy the show but do not know the Bible well enough to get the “Chosen-isms” in the story line —. To which I enjoy discussing the story lines that are Biblical and those that are not. Of course emphasizing that THEOLOGY come from actual scripture not a TV show - that said many more viewers that I know are able to distinguish between the two intelligently than are “misguided” because they are choosing the Chosen translation over scripture.
My 2 cents worth.

It’s a super piece of work that has drawn many people to read the Bible.

That had been my experience as well. Especially with Season Five kicking off with Holy Week. The snippets that have been teased and analyzed give an indication as to how The Chosen will handle Judas during Passover - so many ways to move the storylines that are not in scripture to keeps the fans guessing. But of course the main storyline will progress
