As America witnessed inflation and expanding government spending in the 1970's along with political scandal in the form of Watergate a new face came onto the political scene.
The new face created a notion of someone who was a different kind of Democrat who looked like he was from the outside of politics...
Early on in the 1976 Presidential Campaign the media would seize on the religious aspect of Jimmy Carter's life with description:
"Born-Again Christian"
Jimmy Carter won a narrow victory in 1976...
Some watershed moments would certainly be Iran where Carter would pull the rug out from under the rule of the Shah of Iran opening the door for a revolution that would end up taking American embassy staff hostage and in the present age present a security threat...
Jimmy Carter distanced himself from concerns about the moral decline of the West offered by the prophetic Russian writer Alexandr Solzhenitsyn then living in the USA...
Then there's China given formal diplomatic recognition by Mr. Carter at the beginning of 1979...
But for me I find some identification-truth in Jimmy Carter's comments offered to "Playboy" in an interview during the 1976 campaign that was widely reported on, parodied and treated with silliness...

I remember 1976 was my first POTUS vote since I turned 21 in ‘72. I voted against him.
I remember he seemed cranky and had a scared look in his eyes..
I remember he sounded like Huckleberry Hound..
I remember voting against him again in 1980.. good times!
That’s about it..
Oh yeah - he wanted to unilaterally give up our nuclear weapons and he gave away the Panama Canal.
I recall 1976 too but not so much due to Carter.
1976 was the Bicentennial year. Reporters and advertisers were going nuts talking about it, incorporating the nations 200 year history into anything under the sun.
I got to vote for Reagan in 1980.
Bicentennial I was in Philly before during and after July 4th what an experience.
And I remember Jimmy Carter. I remember him saying it was time for the United States to take a back seat in the world. November 1976 would have been my first Presidential vote but I did not vote because I believed both Ford and Carter to be incompetent. The ignorance of youth.
The next 4 years proved how inept and out of his depth Carter was. I voted for President Ronald Reagan in 1980 and have voted in every Presidential election since.
What Did Jimmy Carter Say To Playboy Magazine?
Quoting Matthew 5:27-28, Carter explained that Jesus Christ considered an offending thought equivalent to consummated adultery, and by that standard, he had “looked on many women with lust” and, thus, “committed adultery many times in my heart.”
He announced that at the start of 1979 the US would end its diplomatic relations with the Republic of China in Taipei and recognize the People’s Republic of China in Beijing as the sole legal government of China.
It shocked many in Taiwan followed by anger and a bitter sense of abandonment and betrayal – even leading to violent anti-American demonstrations in Taipei. The US also terminated its mutual defense treaty with Taiwan and pulled its military personnel from the island.
He started the Department of Education and look at where our educational institutions are now.
He started the Department of Energy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Secretary_of_Energy
“ The energy secretary and the department originally focused on energy production and regulation. The emphasis soon shifted to developing technology for better and more efficient energy sources, as well as energy education.”
What a joke of a department!

“Jimmy Carter aspired to make Government “competent and compassionate,” responsive to the American people and their expectations.”
How’s that competence and compassion working out today?
The odd thing about the killer rabbit story was Carter didn’t do drugs - AND he was a farmer by trade. Farmers are used to animals. The story left questions. Then again he did ‘lust in his heart’...
He was a complete turd.
If only Richard Nixon had been able to counter the fake news via alternative media outlets..
Like Trump and any other man, Nixon was far from perfect, but the Watergate scam that destroyed him was no less a deep state scam than Russia-gate, the stolen 2020 election or the J6 FedSurrection.
For many of us, Jimmy Carter was every bit the imposter that FJB was.
FJC and good riddance.
The point being that men are scum and we should let women run things -
That attitude paired nicely with the idea the USA should take a back seat in world affairs.
He was a woke fool before woke was a thing.
Speak for yourself Jimmy..
I remember the “NO GAS” signs at the gas stations.
“...he had “looked on many women with lust”
Oh the humanity! Him and every other man except for homosexuals,
“...he had “looked on many women with lust”
Oh the humanity! Him and every other man except for homosexuals,
“Malaise Forever!”
Agreed...Watergate was a complete scam blown WAY out of proportion by the filthy democrats and press.
The thing I remember about Carter was his line during the 76 campaign “I’ll never lie to you”. An obvious reference to contrast him with Nixon who the dims thought of as the worst thing on earth. Looking back the line was an obvious lie itself as events subsequently unfolded.
