House Speaker Mike Johnson brokered a last-minute agreement with Democrat leaders late Friday.
The deal extends federal funding through March and allocates substantial disaster relief, but notably excludes President-elect Donald Trump’s demand for a debt ceiling increase, according to AP.
The 118-page package maintains current government funding levels and includes $100 billion for disaster aid and $10 billion in agricultural assistance. However, it omits provisions to raise the debt ceiling, a point of contention for Trump and his allies, including billionaire Elon Musk, who had advocated for a long-term suspension of the borrowing limit.
Trump reiterated his position on the debt ceiling, calling for its extension or abolition to avoid future partisan gridlocks.

Who’s got the votes in the Republican conference?
“notably excludes President-elect Donald Trump’s demand for a debt ceiling increase”
Is this Trump the guy who OKed $600/week for Covid era couch warming?
Is this Trump the guy who said McConnell’s one-time $600 Covid handout wasn’t enough and got Georgia’s Democratic Senator Warlock elected?
They never dreamed they would lose.
Whoever Trump says. I predict he will wash his hands of Mikey now that he’s abused his friendship by negotiating with the demons of the senate and pulling that 1500 page stunt.
The debt ceiling can wait til next year. What was important is that none of the democrap pork was approved, including their pay raises. Mission accomplished, but not the way it should have been.
“Who do we need to replace Johnson with?”
I don’t like that Johnson was going along with Jeffries’ garbage, but Johnson did work to get a more palatable bill passed by the House.
Let's do a mass deportation of Washington DC and the Beltway(s). Find a chicken in Reston full of Fauci Juice resembling Birdpox, Monkey spunk, and Human Corona Virus. Take the monkey thru DC like an organ grinder would. Give him a little rainbow hat, too.
Why can’t they just do their jobs and pass bills for each department covering Oct 1 through Sept 30?
Why do they still play this 90 day game?
When are the GOP going to get it?
The voters are sick of this crap. The weak Republicans will lose Trumps increases in support back to the Dens.
I predict the House is lost again in 2026. It’s 2018 all over again.
They never learn.
I’m done with the Republicans.
Johnson should have torn the Democrat bill up into pieces. Remember?
This was a ploy. Johnson spent a lot of time with Trump over the past several weeks. Doesn’t anyone think they talked about this?
Went from 1500 pages to 118. Trump lost debt ceiling. Rats. Do it all again in 3 months
Honestly its not that bad. Mike just said he talked to Trump and Elon Musk in the past hour or so. Come January 20th we take control of both houses so then no more excuses.
I heard John Thune say the other day that as soon as the new Senate is sworn in they can pass pretty much any appropriation bill through reconciliation without one Democrat vote.
“I’m done with the Republicans.”
*************
They don’t fight. They always have to be dragged kicking and screaming to do anything. Now, some of the RINOs will be fearing Musk and Trump so things might get a little better going forward, but the GOP basically is what it is sadly.
Timevto dethrone this Republicrat
So we have to wait and see. I say primary all of the RINOS not on board.
Good. That's one thing I disagree with Trump on. Don't increase borrowing, decrease spending.
Could’ve been better, giving Trump the debt ceiling increase. But the first bill was so much worse, so overall a win.
My head is spinning. It used to be the Dems who opposed a federal debt limit so they could just keep spending with impunity. Now WE’RE supposed to support it? Just because Trump said so?
Blind people missing what is right in front of them.
Democrats get Rickrolled and people are too blind to see it.
If it took months (thanks for the confirmation Bernie) to write the poison pill porkulus bill how long do you think it took to write this bill and have it waiting ready in the wings?
Hours? Seriously?
That is my read as well.
The Democrats will declare victory—but they will be lying.
Agreed on your post.
You gotta wonder if the Democrats in the Senate are going to figure it out in time to vote “no”.
Lol.
