In a biography set to release just before the election, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell openly sides with Biden-Harris special counsel Jack Smith and expresses his hope that former President Donald J. Trump will “pay a price” for his alleged role in January 6. McConnell’s statements to journalist Michael Tackett for The Price of Power reflect the 82-year-old’s ongoing antipathy to Trump, despite their shared party affiliation.
McConnell’s endorsement of the lawfare campaign against the America First leader reveals just how deep his bitterness runs. “If he hasn’t committed indictable offenses, I don’t know what one is,” McConnell complains. He insists, “…there’s no doubt who inspired [January 6], and I just hope that he’ll have to pay a price for it.”
The book also reveals that McConnell seriously considered voting to convict Trump during his second impeachment in 2021.
Other excerpts from the book reveal McConnell complaining Trump is “a despicable human being” and that he “started to sob softly” as he addressed staffers following January 6.
Despite his public statements and private criticisms, McConnell endorsed Trump for president in March 2024, stating passive-aggressively that “Whatever I may have said about President Trump pales in comparison to what J.D. Vance, Lindsey Graham, and others have said about him, but we are all on the same team now.”
Just go ahead and switch assclown.
KY you **** us.
Mitch, get out!
Just go. We are done with you.
Is it time for the turtle to climb back on the rock?
Preferably *under* it.
Mitch can be bitter all he wants, he’s irrelevant at this point.
Nice to see that Trump is getting a boost from Mitch, one of the most universally despised people in American politics. In the real world, this is a huge endorsement. One of the best things about re. electing Trump is that Mitch is finally going to get kicked to the curb so some new blood can take over. New guy is probably not a whole lot better than Mitch, but you can’t get worse.
It’s getting more difficult with each passing day to appreciate the things McConnell did do to honor his oath (e.g., McConnell kept Garland the Bast@rd off the USSC).
One pbvious perk of having OMB Trump as a candidate has been... that the radical leftists have crawled out of their hidey-holes and have self-identified as the commie POSs that they truly are.
Now we know, without any doubt, who and “what” they are, whereas previously we only suspected. They must be shock-sure that they’ll get away with the leftist steal again. Someone must have assured them of that. That someone should have cautioned them to never assume.
I’ve been sort of sticking up for McConnell and excusing some of his “mistakes” but this (if an accurate report) is inexcusable.
He can’t possibly be that stupid and uninformed to actually believe any of that commie-nazi-far leftist bullrcap
He’s gone over to the Dark Side (where maybe he’s been for quite a long time?). I find his statement reprehensible. And totally needless (except to undermine the Republican election campaign at this critical juncture).
It’s all a bit tricky.
If he resigns, the governor of KY will probably ignore state law and appoint a Dem. If the Senate Majority leader is a Dem, the appointee will be accepted and then the legal case will be underway . . . with delays etc. The Dems will have a new Senator for an extended period.
But I doubt it plays like that. He is leaving his leadership position but not his Senate seat. If the GOP gets the Senate, it is not clear who replaces him. I know his deputy wants it, but that guy is not MAGA.
Mitch is out after January 3, regardless of the election outcome.
People here seem to forget McConnell did what he could to foil the Tea Party, and help Murkowski win in Alaska.
“Is it time for the turtle to climb back on the rock?”
I’d druther he be stuck on top of a fence post during the month of August in Texas.
McConnell gets far too much credit:
Why don’t these evil bastards ever just retire or just flat out die?
What is he so afraid of Trump for? He must be neck deep in corruption.....................
Mitch, seppuku. Embrace it, you slimy piece of s**t.
As kids we used to get our parents to stop so we could move turtles off the road so they wouldn’t get run over.
But if it were a Kentucky turtle...
