The truth is that they didn't have a choice. As bad as Kamala is, the Democrats could not possibly have united around anyone else without even holding a primary. Initially the reports were that Joe would drop out but would not endorse Harris. Then he did and that was the point of no return.

We will probably find out that is exactly right after the election when books are written about this campaign. They were absolutely going towards an open convention UNTIL Mark predicted that is what they were planning.

True. Campaign cash already collected had “her name “on the check” . Campaign legal papers and election filing and Campaign committees had her name already there. She could pretend to be a legal replacement very easily.

As important, she had the VP “title” and so was ALREADY “designated hair apparent”.

I remember about a year ago when the rumor was that Biden was going to dump Cackles from the 2024 ticket because she was so unlikable.

This was Joe Biden's revenge for the coup. Within half an hour of posting his letter resigning from the campaign, he posted his glowing endorsement of Cackles.

Obama stayed silent for nearly 3 days after that.

The Obama/Pelosi faction wanted a Whitmer/Newsom ticket, but to bypass Cackles after Biden's endorsement would be viewed as racist.

After they DEI’d her to VP, I don’t think they had much of a choice because to choose someone else would really, really tick off those black women voters.

If you ever look at the demographics of who votes Democrat, you’ll see that if they don’t get a very high percentage of the black vote, they can’t come close to winning an election.

Harris herself clearly played a big role in all the intrigue.

Biden stepping aside without stepping down seems like a compromise with the Obama/Pelosi/Harris faction.

No wonder Slow Joe seems to take pleasure in skewering her, its his legacy at stake.

They picked Harris because her name was on the campaign bank account.

They were also boxed into it because of their focus on identity politics. They couldn't afford to demote "the first black woman/black Vice President" after elevating her for 3.5 years.

Halperin simply got ahead of that parade and is now credited with leading it.
