"With less than 30 days until the election, the Biden-Harris Department of Justice is filing an unprecedented lawsuit against me and the Commonwealth of Virginia, for appropriately enforcing a 2006 law signed by Democrat Tim Kaine that requires Virginia to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls – a process that starts with someone declaring themselves a non-citizen and then registering to vote. Virginians – and Americans – will see this for exactly what it is: a desperate attempt to attack the legitimacy of the elections in the Commonwealth, the very crucible of American Democracy. With the support of our Attorney General, we will defend these commonsense steps, that we are legally required to take, with every resource available to us. Virginia’s election will be secure and fair, and I will not stand idly by as this politically motivated action tries to interfere in our elections, period.

I see an issue of timeliness here. The law was signed in 2006 by then Democrat Governor Tim Kaine. To me, the DOJ is 18 years late in filing a suit. And if the law was acceptable in 2006, why isn't it acceptable in 2024?

I would hope the state of VA has been removing those names since the law was passed in 2006...Has no one been paying attention? There shouldn’t be a lot left to do if they did it as a priority every year since then. Go Youngkin!

I like the governor’s answer. He is one of the good guys! His state will have legitimate voting, all around.

Desperation.

They have to have the cheat, to win.

Kudos, Gov. Youngkin. Hold your ground against these feral would-be overlords. Curses upon everyone who wants to continue to make the feral government even bigger and more intrusive.

18 U.S. Code § 611 - Voting by aliens

It shall be unlawful for any alien to vote in any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing a candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, unless— (1) the election is held partly for some other purpose; (2) aliens are authorized to vote for such other purpose under a State constitution or statute or a local ordinance; and (3) voting for such other purpose is conducted independently of voting for a candidate for such Federal offices, in such a manner that an alien has the opportunity to vote for such other purpose, but not an opportunity to vote for a candidate for any one or more of such Federal offices.

DOJ is saying it’s ‘too close to Election Day’. Seems to me that Youngkin got wise to the Left’s tactic of last-minute illegal Registrations and waited until they were all in - and then moved to clean it up.

VERY SMART on his part.

And yet this same DOJ allows their Special Prosecutor, Jack Smith, to bring revised charges against Trump with “evidence” released well beyond DOJ standing policy timelines this close to an election. The DOJ is totally corrupt.

Those evil Republicans....trying to prevent people of color from voting (even if they can’t legally vote in a federal election because they are not citizens). Yes, Republican voter suppression and racial discrimination. (/sarcasm)

It will be a great day to see AG Garland and all those like him thrown into the waste bin of history.
