NC Mayor EXPOSES Kamala’s FEMA Lie After His Own Daughter Is Denied $750 Relief Payment

A North Carolina mayor has slammed Vice President Kamala Harris for lying about FEMA efforts to assist residents following the catastrophic hurricane Helene.

Newland Mayor Derek Roberts, whose daughter’s house was destroyed by the hurricane, revealed she was denied the $750 FEMA payment.

“My daughter, whose house got completely wiped out – she has no flood insurance – meets with a FEMA person, applies for everything, doesn’t get the $750 that Kamala says she’s supposed to get. Gets approved for $300 for personal items. What is that gonna do?” Roberts asked in outrage.

More than a week after the storm made landfall, officials are still struggling to keep up with relief requests.

According to Blaze TV’s Glenn Beck, who spoke with FEMA sources, officials are more interested in shutting down makeshift helicopter rescue runs than helping stranded residents.

“Her entire first floor is literally wiped out,” Roberts continued as he described his adult daughter’s ordeal.

“Everything hauled everything off. So where is FEMA?”

The news comes as hurricane Milton heads towards Florida.

On Wednesday, Joe Biden announced plans to delay overseas travel, appearing to acknowledge the political damage being done to Harris and Democrats.

Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said that FEMA does not have the funds to last the entire storm season.

Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) responded to Mayorkas:

“My office has been in contact with whistleblowers in numerous emergency-management functions at the federal, state, and local levels, and they all point to the same critical mismanagement issues,” Gaetz writes.

“FEMA has wasted taxpayer funds, misappropriated funds, and left other federal, state, and local responders without deployment orders on the ground. As reported and further confirmed by my office, hundreds, if not thousands of service members were deployed by the Department of Defense to North Carolina and have sat idle, waiting for FEMA.”

“We have confirmed FEMA employees deployed, on the clock, awaiting orders in hotels. FEMA pre-disaster aid was withheld, exacerbating the emergency. It is also public that NGOs have purchased airline tickets for migrants through the use of FEMA funds.”

I was wrong about his salary. It’s actually $600. He along with the rest of Council voluntarily forfeits their salary

Maybe that’s why I was denied FEMA money from Beryl this summer. Power was out for days. At least everything in the freezer is now less than 3 months old.

I applied, was denied, appealed, and was denied again. Next time I will use my stage name. I hear Rachael works.

It may be the case that if you’re compensated by some other entity, such as insurance, you have to pay the money back.

My homesteaded home here in FL is not in a federally designated flood zone.

We have FEMA flood insurance.

$3K a year to be a Mayor of that city. maybe even less?
Wow. I’m too used to hearing about what other Mayors in other cities demand. I’m thinking someone like DeBlasio, and his grifting wife.

Most smaller towns don’t pay much. They can’t.

His town is 650 people. My town of 12,000 pays the Mayor $25,000 a year. When he was elected, the city gave him keys to a city SUV, which he refused.

Big city mayors are full time employees and as you said, often full time grifters.

Per FEMA, all of Florida is in a flood zone. Areas are rated low risk to high risk and the insurance premiums are based on that scale.

In my state of Washington, only those areas bordering along streams, rivers, and coastal waters are going to be shown on FEMA flood plai maps and are eligible for flood insurance

I see the necessity to make sure that people aren’t gaming the system and stealing the money, but this shows the stupidity of the federal government

It has to do with corruption rather than "stupidity".

Stick to what you know. Whatever that is, it isn’t FEMA flood insurance.

Maybe the mayor’s daughter doesn’t vote the right way.

FEMA immediately went in to help Asheville. Why? Because it is an island of liberal voters in western NC. They are totally ignoring 90% of the rest of the affected areas. A third of the state has been devastated and they are doing nothing. You've probably never heard of Boone, or Deep Gap or Jefferson but they are hurting and they have not even seen ONE person from F'ing FEMA.

“You’ve probably never heard of Boone, or Deep Gap or Jefferson...”

I live in Madison County, NC next to the TN line. Devastation is all around me. Churches are gathering spots and doing what FEMA should be doing.
