“Did the Israelis make the Iranian missiles go off-target?”
Israel has Iron Dome, their anti-missile air defense system, and they have Iron Beam, a laser anti-missile system. Their systems can discriminate between incoming missiles that are going to hit something, and the ones that are going to miss, and get the real threats.
That’s my ‘4D chess’ concern. Why launch such an inept attack knowing that that Israel will respond in a very predictable, while justified, manner?
It’s almost as though other forces want to escalate the war in the region - to what end? I would imagine beyond that of Israel.
now that’s funny!
Wholeheartedly agree. And, wild guess, an even stronger move in support is coming. But Hezbollah will be finished off first.
They did hit some airbase properties. Not enough to interrupt operations, but close enough to mandate intolerance for such attacks. Serious intolerance.
The regime saying “look, squirrel!” To distract from their failure as leaders. A Reichstag fire.

Iran does not want to go to war with the West. When they attack Israel the US and other western nations intervene. Iran does not want to Israel to hit back and be embarrassed again. Just like they did nothing when Israel pulled their pants down on the playground by killing Haniyeh in Tehran. This is all bravado showmanship. They huffed and puffed but never did anything. We are going to hit Israel on the Day of Mourning, then if they donāt sign a Gaza cease fire we will strike back and never did. This weeks ruse was to get the US to pressure Israel into not invading Lebanon by threatening an all out war if Israel retaliates. Well another bloviating threat failed so Iran had to do something to save face. Iranian media told the public they destroyed 20 F-35s and numerous tanks in Gaza with their strikes. Those poor people donāt know better. Think of Iran as a spoiled brat grade schooler. If Iran can get their flunky proxies to do their bidding and fighting, Houthi, hezzies, and hamas then great, but they arenāt going to take a punch themselves. America has to play the game on the world stage, but Iran is not going to do anything stupid. That is why they are fighting, cause you always have true believers mixed in with pragmatic and somewhat sane peoples in a place like that. Israel is cool, everything is cool, just chillax.
Israel cornered them in a no-win situation (metaphors, shaken not stirred) and they had to make a show of ‘retaliation’ (Iran started a war by proxy, then ‘retaliated’ directly when Israel defended itself against the proxies), and it was a long shot at best.
Wow, I just got to the 8 minute mark, hilarious! Like the early 1970s ‘streaking’ phenomenon, but an actual political statement instead of just horsing around.
If Iran had gotten lucky, it wouldn’t have made much difference. Just the existence of Iron Dome has been a deterrent against these direct attacks for a long while. The test for Iran were those April and September missile attacks launched from Yemen. In each case the missiles had no strategic impact, and resulted in counterstrikes.
The Irania leaders are frightened. The Israelis respond with stilettos, not bombs. Don’t doubt they even notify their targets in advance.
The LORD works in mysterious ways! :-)
This is rather like how a lumberjack proceeds to get a tree cut nearly off, encouraging the tree to fall a certain direction, by setting wedges and cutting out a notch on the side toward the desired fall.
These things must be done delicately.
Correct. They tried their best, with some of their arsenal, and it wasn’t enough.
They probably held back their best stuff for their internal problems — they will fire their weapons at the occupied Iranian people — and *may* launch a worse salvo at Israel.
But remember, a lot of their stuff long ago went to the front line proxies in Gaza and Lebanon, and longer range stuff to Yemen (and much of that has been shot at international shipping). Plus, they’ve traded drones and missiles to Russia for some air defense systems.
This is somewhat analogous to the Six Day War. Egypt kicked the UN peacekeepers out of Sinai at gunpoint, then ran their intended invasion force up to the border with Israel.
Once the IAF established near-complete air supremacy, they punched through the skin and that turned into a defacto flanking move. The Egyptian army turned into a frightened, leaderless mob, fleeing across the desert. When the troops who’d survived the trek started to swim the Canal to get back home, the flunkies drew straws to see who finally had to break the bad news to Nasser.
Weāre the rockets guided by something like gps or internal computers? If not then most likely they were ādumbā rockets, pointed in the general direction if Israel and would follow a ballistic arc after the fuel ran out. The only win I see for Iran is they forced Israel to use precious Iron Dome missiles. The rest is propaganda.
[snip] They landed in sand, in water, and in “Empty spaces”. Have you been to Israel? Itās a microscopic country. What empty spaces? Where are these empty spaces? [/snip]
“the eight ball in the corner pocket.” :^)
No, Iran is a paper tiger. Just like Russia is.
They brag, yet their systems don’t work. “Terror” is all they have. Actually they also have “propaganda”.
The GREAT SUPERPOWER of Russia is STILL fighting Ukraine. Should have been over in a week.
Should have been like Germany taking France.
Iran is full of empty threats. They don’t have a nuke, NEVER WILL.
Set their oil rigs ablaze and blow up their shipping terminals just for starters. Their people WILL rise up.
Bring back the position of Shah, DUMP the ayatollahs. FREE elections.
OR just keep killing Muslim leaders wherever they are until there aren’t any left.
This conserves defenses for protecting the areas most in need of protection.
The US also contributed 12 SM-3 exoatmospheric missiles yesterday fired from Navy ships. That's $132 million in one salvo.

The simplest explanation, and probably the correct one, is incompetence.
