New Yorker Says It's Time to Torch the Constitution (but Donald Trump's the Dictator)

When the Left tells you who they are, believe them. John Kerry said the First Amendment is a 'roadblock' to instituting their agenda, and needs to be curtailed to stop 'misinformation' and build a 'consensus'. This is their way of saying you'll either agree with the Leftist agenda or they'll shut you up and punish you.

So much freedom, though.

Obama called the Constitution a barrier.

It's a theme.

Here's The New Yorker calling for the torching of the Constitution:

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2024/09/30/constitution-book-reviews-chemerinsky-pierson-schickler

Wow.

Abandoned the Constitution.

They actually said it.

They write:

"...The Constitution is 4,543 words long. That’s roughly four magazine pages, about the length of this article (though not nearly as enjoyable). You can read the whole thing in fifteen minutes. Yet this brief text—plus its still operative amendments, another 3,112 words—underwrites our entire system of government. That system currently employs, on national, state, and municipal levels, more than nineteen million people. All those employees represent “the state,” and are subject to the Constitution’s rules about what government can and cannot do.

The individual states have their own constitutions, and municipalities have their own charters, but nothing in them may contradict what is in the federal Constitution, because, in our version of republicanism, the authority of the federal Constitution is absolute. We know that this is so because the Constitution says it’s so, in the “supremacy clause” of Article VI: “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof . . . shall be the supreme Law of the Land.”

And there are 104.6 million words in federal regulations as of 2016 and what has that done for us? Not much.

There are. And a process to add them.

But that requires convincing 2/3 of the states to ratify it.

Dumb and dangerous.

They want to destroy America. And this is how they planned to do it.

Same.

But it's real.

They won't like the way this plays out for them.

Which is why they have to remove that, too.

All of this.

The left solely defines freedom as the license to be a slave to your own lusts, and then stick other people with the bill.

Cut that number in half and it would still be too many.

It has been a pillar of Progressive ideology, since 1900, that the Constitution is outdated and a barrier to "progress". From Woodrow Wilson, a foremost archetict of "Progressivism" (before and after he became President", written in 1897:

Applied in a democratic state, such doctrine sounds radical, but not revolutionary. It is only an acceptance of the extremest logical conclusions deducible from democratic principles long ago received as respectable. For it is very clear that in fundamental theory socialism and democracy are almost if not quite one and the same. They both rest at bottom upon the absolute right of the community to determine its own destiny and that of its members. Men as communities are supreme over men as individuals. Limits of wisdom and convenience to the public control there may be: limits of principle there are, upon strict analysis, none.

— Woodrow Wilson, Socialism and Democracy, 1887

This analysis is against the whole structure of the Constitution as limiting the power of the state.

No Bill of Rights.

No Federalism.

No balancing of state power against federal power.

No protection of individuals against the power of the government.

They got it wrong. Get rid of most of the 104 million words, and keep the 4.543 words.

Thank you for referencing that article Red Badger.

"John Kerry said the First Amendment is a 'roadblock' to instituting their agenda, and needs to be curtailed to stop 'misinformation' and build a 'consensus'."

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

With all due respect to young people, desperate, elite Democrats evidently don't understand that their repeated critique of “misinformation” without ever providing significant examples of what they're disagreeing with makes them look bratty, not someone that you would vote for for public office.

Maybe a constitutional right to make a reasonably informed decision is in order.

Speaking of desperate, elite Democrats and RINOs, since Congress and likewise renegade states have repeatedly proven that they are enemies of the people imo, it is now up to Democratic and Republican Trump supporters to effectively "impeach and remove" ALL (exceptions?) state and federal lawmakers and executives in November.

In fact, it's up to us Trump supporters to take the first MAJOR step in draining the swamp by supporting hopeful Trump 47 with a new, Constitution-respecting Congress, new state lawmakers too, not only so that he will not be a lame duck president from the first day of his second term, but will support him to quickly finish draining the swamp.

Also, let's not allow the anti-Trump media try to fade our memories of what we witnessed on July 13.

The greatest threat to our lives, liberties, and wellbeing is the Leftist 80%+, $3+ trillion unconstitutional portion of the federal government.

DISMANTLE THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL PORTION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

SUPPORT VIVEK for PRESIDENT in 2028, the only one on the national stage who talks about this.

That’s when I used to subscribe. Tina Brown fixed that.

I seriously believe the left will be emboldened at some point to begin (or rather ramp up severely) violating constitutional rights- regardless of what the SC rules- There are 1000’s of peaceful people who have been arrested, imprisoned, and sent to solitary for years who did nothing wrong- worse is coming it seems-

It requires 3/4ths of the states to ratify an amendment to the Constitution, not 2/3rds.

I had to look up Tina Brown, former editor-in-chief of the 'New Yorker'.

Now it makes more sense as to why the rag promotes removing people's rights: Tina Brown, along with Harvey Weinstein, founded Talk Media to publish books, a magazine, movies, and television programs. It also figures she's a Brit.

Sick people backing other sick people and trying to remove victims' protections.

From Kerry's speech at the WEF to this.

The mask is completely off now.

It will not be enough to win an election. They need to be rooted out from all institutions.
