Crazy Video Shows Bridge Collapse In North Carolina As ‘No Name’ Storm Terrorizes Coastline

A “no name” storm devastated North Carolina on Monday, washing away roads and cutting off entire towns after seemingly no warning.

Footage shared on social media by storm chaser Aaron Jayjack showed carnage in Southport, N.C. following a sudden and historic deluge of rainfall, powerful enough to wash out bridges, according to AccuWeather. Photos shared by residents and reporters alike show the infrastructural catastrophes that quite literally sprung up as many people were driving home from work on Monday night, locals tell the Daily Caller.

An estimated 18.32 inches of rain fell throughout the county by Monday afternoon as extreme weather systems continuously slammed into the coastline, sending flash floods and storm surges throughout southern N.C, Axios noted.

A state of emergency was issued in Brunswick County after the town of Southport closed all inbound roads to nonemergency traffic, according to WUNC. (RELATED: Wild Footage Shows Carolina Beach Swamped Under Estimated 15 Inches Of Rain)

“From Carolina Beach into Southport and into the Boiling Springs Lake community, there were some homes and businesses that received flood damage, anywhere from one to two feet of water entered some of those structures,” National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Armstrong told the outlet. “Also, some wind damage along the coast, where we did see wind gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour.”

Central Europe is getting it much worse right now, especially areas along the Danube.

Do I detect a lack of urgency here?

I listen to Bastardi if any type of storm seems to be headed my way. He is usually more correct than others and doesn’t go into hysteria at every storm.

Idiots don’t know when to put the damn phone down and do something.

Further north, we had a lot of rain overnight and into this morning. Ferry shut down between Hatteras and Ocracoke due to NC12 flooded with overwash on Ocracoke. But 18 inches? Dang....

I've been through the seas in a storm with no name
it felt good to be out of the rain
on the seas you can remember your name
because there's noone to give you any pain
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

After two days on the ocean spray my skin begin to feel cracked
After three days of the ocean fun, my mind begin to feel whacked
And the story is told of the storm that blowed
made me sad to think it had croaked

Does anyone have the names of all the infrastructure projects completed since the “shovel ready jobs that weren’t actually there” from Obama’s time in office?

During Obama’s era of destruction, our county received a “grant” for broadband internet for rural counties under his infrastructure bill . By the time studies were done and all the paperwork completed, we had only 9 new households connected to the internet. Since then, there has been 2 or 3 new grants with citizens being assured that by the time the project was completed, everyone would have fast internet.

As of now, the three new subdivisions near the county seat have great internet connections. The rest of us have seen no improvement at all. Here at my place, we get a mediocre connection. I get the spinning hourglass icon more often than not when trying to visit any site with images or video. Thankfully, FR is not overloaded with images on the front page.

All the grant money that was spent time and time again to pay a new company that THIS time was going to get everyone connected was all spent (once again) on “studies”. Our county has had several studies over the past 15 years, each overlapping the previous one.

Meanwhile, the construction business owner a mile from us can’t even get enough of a connection to check his email. He drives up the road to the crossroads 2 miles away a few times a day to check his email.

Yes, and Ryan Hall, as well. It was only a surprise to those who aren’t informed.

Calling this a storm is a little deceptive; you could be five miles away and just get a normal rain, hence the unknown storm comment, it is what happens in one little micro-environment that causes this kind of devastation. One part of the storm with heavy precipitation just hangs over one spot, often spiralling around the same spot so that it doesn’t pass through, and instead of the few minutes of deluge that we all have experienced in heavy storms, it just goes on and on. As they state, this is a 1 in a 1,000 year event. I watched this happen about five years ago while I was home. One minute I drove to the gas station, got home and went inside and it was dry but about to rain. Fifteen minutes later my two dogs were going crazy, and I could hear the heavy rain hitting the rook and porch. I looked outside, the water was coming down so hard it was unreal. Ten minutes later, it was up to the tires of my truck. I moved both trucks up the hill, and by the time I got back down my riding mower was gone forever. Ten minutes later, a brick building that was nearly a hundred years old, and full of tools, gardening, and workshop stuff was gone forever. I came ten minutes away from losing my house, and no I am NOT in a flood plain. I got my dogs and most important documents up to the trucks. They say around 8 inches of rain fell in less than an hour. It took out five bridges within about a mile and half radius from my property. Four people were not so lucky and lost their homes and all their valuables; many more lost vehicles. It can happen anywhere there is a valley, even if there is no water there normally. Three of the bridges are still out.

Carnage? What? This “writer” must be about 12. I cannot believe how poorly this is written.

NHC warned them. They have been saying it was going to be a big rain event. NHC is the best at these kind of things.

The faces on TV are another matter.

The bridge didn’t collapse. The road approach was undermined.

You are correct. There's a lot of pig headed liberals that moved down here from ny,nj,Connecticut, Delaware that absolutely will not listen to anyone and feel they are right and invincible!

Ran into one today at the meat counter , old lady who walked past everyone and tried to order the butcher around. He said " you need a number" she took the number and the butcher said "7". She waved her number in the air and said " I have 9" . The. Butcher explained to her he was taught 7 came before 9.. really happened.

so a Mercedes running thru flood waters isn't news. They are all mostly big headed.
