How about this - If Trump wins the election, there's no way he goes to jail.
But if he loses he DOES - so don't sit home, get out and vote!
Ultimately, it’s a matter of whether or not the voters are too stupid not to realize we’re rapidly heading towards communism.
Maybe it’s the other way - if Trump wins, Merchan may go to prison.
I think it’s more that if he jails Trump now, Merchan assures that Trump will be elected. That’s the only reason he’s putting this off.

Absolutely - he knows (1) if he sentences Trump, Trump will get some “sympathy” votes in New York, but (2) if he delays sentencing he still gets to keep hanging the “guilty” charge over Trump. And what Merchant does not want is a Trum appleal that makes into a federal appeals court before the election, and an immediate sentencing adds another arm in Trump’s favor for getting an appeal into the courts.

Certainly possible. I figure, though, that Trump would jump in to the Supreme Court and it’ll get overturned same week.
And then the story is forgotten by most of the public in a week with no impact to the election.
I can assure you the crazies who want trump in jail all already voting no matter what. They will walk through glass to vote. Good news they are a segment, not a majority
Not to worry. The left will steal this election with historic levels of voter fraud for the US. Conservative and patriot citizens will whine and bitch about it, but that’s as far as they will go. Maybe a few sternly written letters to their so-called representatives. And they will remain on the sidelines while others are lined up for the boxcars.

merchant has bigger issues than how to possibly sentence Trump. maybe he is buying himself time to try to figure out conflicts of interest like if he does as he wants he is setting himself up for hell, on earth, and maybe after too.
His actions are the kind of actions that got Mussolini or Ceausescu the treatment they eventually got, IMO. [Not that I’m personally advocating or inciting that]
The approved media and news outlets are terrified of what comes at you if you cross beliefs and objectives with them.
They can get at you any place and time if they choose.
I think whoever’s neutral would’ve already been motivated by all the tyranny against him to begin with. I don’t think this would add more.
I’m thinking it’s getting democrats to come out who may stay home, which could be substantial given the state of the country and the candidate.
