In the immediate aftermath of the 2016 presidential election, the Alexandria City Council issued a statement on inclusiveness as part of the left’s hysterical response to Hillary Clinton’s loss.
“Alexandria, Virginia, is a city of kindness and compassion,” the statement began. “Our city declares itself to be a hate-free zone. We are an accepting and embracing community where we treat each other with human dignity and respect. There is no place for intolerance in our community. This is a core value of our city. In recent times, many of our neighbors, families and children have expressed fear and apprehension, and there has been an increase in hateful and dangerous speech and acts nationwide. Recognizing everyone’s First Amendment right to freedom of speech, we are also dedicated to freedom from fear.”
Seven months later, a baseball field full of Republican members of Congress was gunned down in the city’s Del Ray neighborhood by a Democrat activist. No one was killed, thank God, but five people, including then-U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, were shot. Scalise nearly died. He was rushed into emergency surgery and overcame serious obstacles to walk again. Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner was also shot. The community mostly pretended it hadn’t happened.
When The New York Times published a story about the Del Ray neighborhood where the assassination attempt occurred, it described it as “very quiet, very charming and very liberal.” The article featured a sign in the neighborhood written in English, Spanish, and Arabic that told readers that no matter where they are from, they are welcome.
Everyone but Sen. J.D. Vance and his young family, that is.

This drivel was undoubtedly written by a woman, or a group of women, or an LGBTQWERTY “man”. No actual man would ever be dedicated to “freedom from fear”. What an idiotic thing to say.
Courage is what matters. Courage is the ability to continue on, to function, to overcome, DESPITE your fears. And it is the ONLY thing that stops criminals and defends innocents.
I am familiar with Del Ray. In the last 10 years it has gone full blown DC Karen hate.
Excellent nd accurate description of Del Ray by Mollie. It is Berkley East. It os lovely and quaint with houses are in the multi-millions and owned by Federal Government workers and Govt. contractors. I’ve known Liberals who moved there with there families and quickly moved out because it is too Liberal and crazy as Mollie desribes. I am shocked that JD moved there—I doubt he knew how bad it is. I fear for his family as there have been other attacks that Mollie didn’t mention. He’s too busy now, but he really should move. There are other parts of Alexandria that are not 100% crazy leftists, just 75%, lol!
It was written by a woman who was Mayor at the time, Allison Silberberg. She is actually a nice person and not a crazy leftist, unlike the current Mayor and council who are full blown Marxists. They tried to pass legislation to make one day a year as “Abortion Provider Appreciation Day”. Allison Silberberg lost her run for re-election because the Leftists thought she was a Republican at heart and not Leftist enough.
Sounds like a good neighborhood to place a migrant relief center after JD moves out. Homeless shelter too.

I saw my first Harris/Walz yard sign this morning in a very expensive and hoity-toity neighborhood in Tulsa OK. I was not surprised as it is typically a bright blue dot on the electoral map.
It is a common problem all over. Selfish little demons, aren’t they?
