Go Green!
End up Black!....................
This is why e-bikes needs to have their battery packs certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). If we can charge the larger battery packs on modern computer laptops safely under the USB Forum Power Delivery 3.x standard, then that standard should also be applied for e-bike battery charging.
How many times does this need to happen before people refuse to buy them???
Do not enter confined areas with one of these batteries such as an elevator
e-battery explodes in elevator (disturbing)

Just yesterday my wife came in and showed me her big 20,000 maH USB power brick she carries because it has so much capacity it basically never needs to be charged given her usage. It was all bulging so much that the exterior case was cracking open. I took it immediately to a battery recycling place and they guy looked like I’d walked in with a piece of toxic waste. I’m thinking they didn’t want that one in there anymore than I did.
I expect we’ll see a lot more of these as e-bikes are becoming a popular alternative to cars for urban people, but they like to drag them into their apartments instead of parking them outside. Recipe for disaster.
E bikes are not about going green.
They are about making bike riding accessible to people who need assistance pedaling, particularly on hills due to bad knees, bad backs, cardiac conditions, etc.
If you don’t buy a cheap crap e bike, you will get safe battery packs. If you abuse those packs, then they are no longer safe.
To recycle the cell phones the companies that do so have to be very careful not to puncture the battery. They cannot just grind up the phone and sort out the precious metals.
