Shukr had been wanted by the US for orchestrating the bombing that killed 241 American servicemen at a US Marines barracks in Beirut in 1982, before Hezbollah was officially founded.

So this a-hole walked free and clear for over four decades before Israel finally did our work for us and killed him. Being "wanted by the US" isn't as frightening as it sounds - unless you're some old lady saying prayers and singing hymns outside an abortion clinic, of course.

USMC SGM Frederick Douglass killed that day, had been the top enlisted man on the USMC detachment on the USS JFK in the later Seventies when I was on it, and shouldn’t have had to wait that long for justice.
He pretty much had a face you wouldn’t forget, and I picked up the Boston Globe after the bombing and saw his USMC portrait below the fold. I knew instantly who he was. (He was from Massachusetts)
