Just an actual interview with a president who could speak in public, impromptu, and still funny.

Not bad for a man they say was senile that year. These days you won’t find words like “destitute” rolling off a politician’s tongue. I’m going to try that one today, ask a few people what it means. “I heard the President say our entire generation will soon be destitute. What did he mean, ya think?”

Ain’t that the truth.

All of that.

Reagan was the most erudite, common man President in my lifetime (since 1970, small sample size).

Many of us remember him well. At the time he was President, I was in full-on yayhoo college student mode, and ridiculed him. Shortly thereafter, I came to realize my error(s), and saw him for what he in fact was: the greatest President I would ever see. Check out “Reagan, in his own hand” a wonderful book that provides unique insight to his style of thinking. He thought deeply, and acted boldly. I regularly wear my “Reagan as Che” T-shirt around town on weekends, and almost every time, get a very positive comment from someone. I has sparked some great conversations, too, that give me hope. A few mean-faced liberals with pony-tails and Birkenstocks have expressed disapproval, too, but uniformly supportive responses. I’m wearing it at the moment, and will soon be heading to the hardware store...

He sure didn’t waste words, everything he says is informative.

He certainly appeared compos mentis to me. But then I always maintained it was this event which eventually brought on the Alzheimer's disease:

His Goldwater speech, the fist time I heard it, I couldn’t stop listing to it.
He was warning America about free government programs.
Like he said “A government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take it away.

So true.
