It’s a distant memory now, but Donald Trump publicly supported single-payer health care. Vice President Kamala Harris did, too. Neither candidate backs the idea now. This easily accessible history didn’t stop Trump from attacking Harris on Thursday as if she still supports single-payer — with the former president arguing that it would be bad to do so.
During a rambling press conference at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump said of Harris: “She cosponsored legislation to abolish very popular private health insurance, which 150 [million] Americans rely on, dumping everyone onto inferior socialist government run health care systems with rationing and deadly wait times, while massively raising your taxes. She wants to take away your private health care.”
“It’s the best health care in the world,” he continued, adding: “You’re all going to be thrown into a communist system … You’re going to be thrown into a system where everybody gets health care.”
None of this is true. Harris did previously support eliminating private health insurance in favor of enacting “Medicare for All,” or a universal health insurance program. She has since backed away from this idea. While Harris has not offered her health care plan yet, her spokesperson recently told NBC News, “The VP will not push single payer as president.”

My daughter was conceived in Hungary by IVF.
Her mother is Hungarian so it wasn’t expensive.
However what people here don’t understand is that in every country there is private healthcare.
In Hungary doctors do the Hungarian health system in the morning, private practice in the afternoon.
It’s that way in every modern country. There is public healthcare so CITIZENS always get something but private if you or your employer wants to pay more.
The only Western country that doesn’t do this is Canada. Canadians are trapped in their government system.
For the US to follow Kamala’s plan is more socialist than anything in Europe or the Far East.
uh huh, wait three months to see a primary doc, if they even have a waiting list
If health care is a “right”, then it will require implementing slavery to deliver that “right.” True rights don’t require anyone else to do something to “give” you that right, and true rights don’t involve giving you something in the first place.
True rights are inherent, already given to you by God, and all that is required of the government is to STAY OUT OF THE WAY. If healthcare is a right, then what would happen if doctors and nurses just decided they didn’t want to do that job anymore? Your “right” would evaporate before your eyes in that eventuality, so the only way it could become a so-called “right” would be to enslave doctors and nurses and force them to deliver your “right” to healthcare against their will.
Wait until the massive number of border jumpers are able to get on free tax payer paid medical care. If these third-world nation free loaders don’t pay income taxes, we will need to increase taxes to accommodate the demand they will present.
DemonKKKrats always hide the fine print.
Concierge care is what we do. They are super responsive plus the Doc is more like a Naturapath, ie isn’t a drug pusher.
Rights are freedoms of thought, word, and action.
Services are things other people provide for you, not rights.
Believing you are entitled to other people’s labor is a slave holder’s mindset.
The KKK party, staying true to form.
There’s the demonrat talking point word, “Rambling” again. Trump doesn’t ramble. His tone is conversational. Many of his supporters, including me, prefer it. He speaks to people just like they’re in his living room. He likes to engage the crowd at his rallies. He has a way of doing it that makes the democrats jealous.
Kamala can’t do it…she’s not really the congenial type.
Who will be required to provide the care?
He’s also comical. Today he said he never uses Kamala’s last name because nobody knows who he’s talking about.
The most unaffordable things in life are free.
There will be an explosion in the shark population with all the food they’re going to get.
The ones who scream that they want single payer healthcare can afford to go anywhere they want if they need it everyone else has to wait a yr to see a doc good luck
Is the Rolling Stone still around? I would have thought anarchist hippies stoned to the bone would have petered out by now.
I see they are still very high as they publish such crap.
Brilliant. Nice and concise. Bravo.
Medicare for all. You buy your healthcare and also pay for it for the illegals and everyone else. Sort of like Student Loan forgiveness ... you pay for your student loans (if you even went to college) and then pay your lazy neighbor kids loans.
My wife and I are already thinking Singapore if Hairass wins. Our daughter and SiL have a place for us.

There was a thread about two months back: Would you prefer living in Singapore or New York City. You know what even us conservative FReepers thought: Singapore
There’s an old saying. By Ben Franklin I think.
Those who would sacrifice liberty for a little safety deserve neither liberty or safety.
Thing is... There is no liberty OR safety in New York City. And most other US cities as well.
The AMA is probably supporting this but wait till it happens. Everybody will be signing up for appointments and who has time to sit and wait for hours to see their doctors? The unemployed and those on welfare.
The life of a primary care physician is not great right now and not at all lucrative. Wait till they have to see 40 people a day. Their office waiting room will be like an innercity ER.
That’s on the option list for me, too - but the wife gave up her Singapore citizenship a while back to become a US citizen. Makes it harder…
We have three daughters.
The oldest lives in the UK with her 2 children. She is a novelist who writes urban-fantasy-horror stuff.
The youngest one lives in Singapore with her husband and 2 children. She is a former flight attendant with Singapore airlines. Her husband is a music teacher.
The middle daughter in a corporate accounts bank manager with Citic Ka Wa (partially State owned) bank and lives in Shanghai. She isn’t married.
None of them are US citizens
We can escape the the former US in three way.
Yes. You will placed in a matrix by a bureaucrat and receive the “free care” determined for you.
