There are many jobs in the Army. The only Soldiers qualified to handle civil unrest are the MPs. Can you give cooks a couple days of civil disorder training, give them hats and bats, and send them to the front lines of a violent situation? Sure, you can, but it’s not a great solution. It happened recently in America, and the results weren’t great.

I have a cousin who was an Army cook/butcher who got caught up in the Battle of the Bulge. Lost a lot of his comrades. Whatever MOS you have, you are an infantryman if called upon.
