Kamala Harris’s coronation as the Democratic nominee was greeted with applause across the party’s establishment—but not among progressive populists. Harris herself remains a cipher on economic issues. But her donors and senior advisers—Big Tech and Wall Street types galore—led the likes of Matt Stoller, the antitrust activist, and the editors of The American Prospect to sound the alarm, especially in light of Donald Trump’s veep choice, J.D. Vance.
By picking Tim Walz as her running mate, Harris has gone a long way toward bolstering her left-populist flank and neutralizing Vance’s potential appeal. Walz can’t be framed as a neoliberal Democrat in the Clinton-Obama mold. This makes it all the more urgent for Team Trump to lean away from both online culture-warring and conventional GOP messaging—and lean into a positive, bread-and-butter populism.
Walz’s origin story—a son of deep-rural Nebraska with degrees from Chadron State College and Minnesota State—attests to leading Democrats’ fears that Vance could deepen the class realignment of the two parties. But Walz doesn’t just bring his humble roots. He also has a formidable record of governing as a populist and Midwestern-style social democrat.
Last year, he led his state legislature’s enactment of a sweeping pro-worker law, which Steven Greenhouse, the veteran labor reporter, described as “one of the most pro-worker packages … that any US state has passed in decades.” And rightly so. Among other measures, the law:

Regional wage boards will promote DEI pay equity.
Take electric utility linemen who are mostly male, for instance, and compare their wages with electric utility office workers with the same education who are predominantly female. Their wages will be equalized under regional wage boards for DEI reasons.
Never mind that linemen work in dangerous conditions in the elements and are impacted physically after 20+ years of the tough and dangerous work!
If Tampon Tim is a threat please send out more threats just like him,
This only give pause to the lame and stupid.
Walz is a good speaker. Dinged JD on the “couch” bit no matter that it was a lie. Describing Socialism as “neighborliness” and describing their coming administration with “Joy” is a classic leftist tactic.
Lame and stupid people vote. Therefore, if they pause for this, we should pause for it and formulate refutations.
Castro rode into town on a convertible.. He and his gang, defeated Batista. The crowds followed him, cheering.
In 3 days, Castro went on TV to announce he was a communist.
His first action was to take all fire arms.. Rounded up their guns.
Then he took possession of all homes and businesses.. And he placed all schools under government control.
Those who could, swam.. Boat.. To Florida..
We don’t have any place to go.. We are the haven.
Cuba became a country with nothing..
How to wake up a generation or two to what the liberal left has in store if given the vote.
My Lord.. It is a sad place to be so blessed with goods, and be so ignorant about the frog on the burner.
This reminds me of all the enthusiasm of the mass media for Biden before he got couped.
Walz is a pervert—and he will be exposed—and he will go away as quickly as he came er arrived.
Cuba became a country with nothing.
And the citizens were happy to suffer as long as they never rewarded the Capitalist. (East Germany was the same. My aunts mother chose to live in East Germany after the war. My aunt tried to get her out but she didn’t want to leave. She hated the English so.)

People who are voting for a living will vote Democrat - people who are worried about the country's direction will not. Trump's challenge is to make the vast majority of that latter group turns out for him instead of staying home because the media convinced them his "tone" was the real problem.
Indeed hope the democrats run out of Band-Aids and booze in this election too.
“Tim Walz’s Big Threat to the GOP” - don’t drop the soap, GOP - “Backdoor Timmy” Walz will be on ya like a bullfrog.
Governor Walz commented on Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s claims of hesitation to send in the National Guard to Minneapolis on May 27 [2020] with the following statement, “I don’t think the mayor knew what he was asking for…I think the mayor said, ‘I request the National Guard, whew, this is great. We’re going to have massively trained troops.’ No. You’re going to have 19 year olds who are cooks in some cases.”
Senator Andrew Mathews (R-Princeton) issued a reply:
“The troops Governor Walz calls “19 year old cooks” walked into a chaotic situation on the evening of May 30th, put themselves at risk, and successfully quelled the violence after four days of rioting.
“It is outrageous that men and women dedicated to top-tier training and protection of our nation are subjected to belittling comments from our governor. We all know people who have been deployed: sons, daughters, parents, siblings, and friends. The Guard has been deployed around the world, are known for their skill and training, and are sworn to protect our country and our freedoms. “Minnesotans know that the governor’s response to the Minneapolis riots was an abject failure, by every objective measurement. Instead of accepting responsibility, Gov. Walz is trying to blame the mayor, the Guard, and anyone but himself. His insulting comments about our troops are uncalled for, outright wrong, and deserving of an apology to every Guard member in this state.”
They gave up their will and freedom, to have a place to ‘live’, controlled.
The US government would like to have that power over the people.. They would have to break the will of millions. It would take a long time..
BTW.. The Cubans who escaped, started over in the US.. They didn’t capitulated there in Castro land.
A Disney movie, The Lion King.. When the bad lion got control, the land lay desolate.. Burned, and empty of life.
I knew a war bride from Germany. East Germany shot anyone trying to escape the wall or gate.
Freedom is life.
