MSNPC is apocalyptic over this entirely non-story of a story. In case it makes the rounds, here's what actually happened. The guy probably had no idea it was LE. At the very worst, he was lifting a special license plate that may have street value evading red light cameras. (To me, /that/ is the real story. I had no idea such things existed.)

He wasn’t even taking the plate. He was removing an illegal license plate cover that prevents toll cameras, speed cameras etc from properly recording the plate number.

License plate covers are not illegal in some states.
Either way, it is one thing to note the attempt to cover or modify a license plate number, it is another thing entirely to touch the car, even just the license plate. He's luck someone hasn't put him in the hospital or worse for vandalizing their car, because that is what this is. Vigilentee vandalism.

Agreed. The guy protests against license plate covers used illegally (?). Mr. Emhoff’s daughter was not in any danger.
The SS seems more concerned about their SUVs than they were about the unguarded roof and the suspicious man with the rangefinder at the Trump rally.
