Kennedy Campaign Pays Filing Fee to Appear on Louisiana State Ballot
Independent Political Report ^ | July 25, 2024 | Jordan Willow Evans

The Kennedy campaign announced on Wednesday that it had submitted the necessary paperwork and filing fee to appear on the Louisiana state ballot. Louisiana allows independent candidates the choice of paying a filing fee or petitioning for signatures.

According to a press release from the campaign, it paid the $500 filing fee and submitted its elector Notices of Candidacy and Affidavits of Acceptance of Nomination. As an independent candidate, Kennedy had the choice between paying the fee or collecting the signatures of 5,000 registered voters, with at least 500 signatures from each of Louisiana’s congressional districts.

“We are thrilled Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Nicole Shanahan will be on the ballot in Louisiana this November,” said Southwest Regional Director Carlos Sierra in the release. “Louisianans will have the opportunity to vote for a ticket that represents independence, unity, integrity, and honesty.”

The campaign states in the release that it has submitted signatures for certification in 15 states, including Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and now Louisiana.

My main interest has always been that he hurts the Democrats.

I was at the Mesa Superior Court this morning, and a lady outside asked me to sign a petition. It was to get Cornel West on the ballot in Arizona. I told her that I was not a supporter of Mr. West, but that I had no problem with him being on the ballot, and signed. She told me that women stopped signing after Kamala was the anointed. I told her that my wife has no interest in Kamala Harris. She told me that she doesn’t either. So, I just signed to get a guy with whom I have little in common on the ballot for obvious reasons. Heck, he probably got more votes in the Dem primary than Harris did!

Yeah, but typical Dem voters HATE Trump. So most will vote for whoever has the best chance of beating Trump.

Sill, it's nice if Kennedy can drain some Dem votes in battleground states.

Waste of time and money. President Trump beat Biden in 2020 in Louisiana by what, 20 points?

Louisiana is going for President Trump. Period.

He will definitely help Trump, esp in the battle ground states. All the credible polls indicate that.

We need to add Kennedy on the ballot in MI, WI, AZ, NH, VA, NC.

I even wonder if he might help flip MA, ME, or CT.

He’s going to hurt the Dems imo. Need him on the ballot in blue / purple states to put states in play that Trump normally wouldn’t have a shot to win.

True, but the question then becomes: waste of WHO's money? Not RFKJr's if it brings in campaign donations.

~~~
That’s a great point.
You would think they would know they aren’t going to win it. No democrat would. Obama lost it in 2012, and Kamala is no Obama.
What would your consolation prize be if you beat the democrat for second place in voting in a state like Louisiana?
Since you can’t use political campaign funds for personal use, all I can think is that this is about long term personal gain through name recognition. IE: Book deals and speeches, or maybe parlaying that recognition for future campaigns, like a Senate run.
Waste of time and money for the dems.
The only states that Kennedy can actually affect the outcome, if any, is the only thing he should be focusing on.
Hard to believe there will be many donations to that loser, particularly from dems in Southern states that will ignore anyone that isn't Harris or the eventual dem nominee.
Hard to see him beating anyone in a Senate race, but stranger things have happened.
I’m sure he has a reason, but it’s beyond my comprehension at this time.
A Kennedy ad popped up on something I was watching.
The highlights
Immediate pardons for former presidents and administration officials who were the recipients of lawfare
Fire people in the government who are responsible for the weaponization of the government
National unity with cabinet positions held by Democrats, Republicans, and minor parties
I do not support the guy but it is clear he is trying to set himself up as the non extremist choice
I don’t think this helps Trump. I have relatives who are supposedly conservative and have voted Republican all their lives voting for Kennedy because he’s “not part of either side”. I told them that other than the vax stuff he’s a flaming lib...but they hear nothing.
RFKJr is basically mostly a leftist leaning Democrat with a few libertarian ingredients tossed in to make it more interesting.
If I were a D voter and the DNC stuck the party with Camel-ugh, I would definitely be attracted by a RFK candidacy. Most definitely he will take a lot more D votes than R votes.
I got the impression that he was talking about all people persecuted by a weaponized government.
But I have been wrong before. This was a simple advert. Just him talking. I looked on YouTube for the advert but it isn’t there, at least not yet
