That is the question that has dogged the 39-year-old senator from Ohio along his peculiar path to power, which began in 2016 with the publication of his bestselling memoir Hillbilly Elegy and culminated this week when former President Donald Trump selected him as a running mate for the 2024 election.

56. He’s so difficult to trust, nobody will want him to be POTUS, so that’s life insurance for DJT.
1. Pedo Pete took chicom bribes. (not mentioned)
They had me wondering about him until #40, and then I was sold on him.
The one thing I do know is enough.
JD Vance: “I’m a Never Trump guy. Never liked him. He’s a terrible candidate. He might be America’s Hitler. He’s obnoxious, and reprehensible.”
Was he looking in the mirror when he said that?
I could live with him saying everything but America’s Hitler.
Yalies are fickle.
Kerry like Trump is a political acrobat.
So, I guess you’re not voting for Trump.
His opinion on Trump is obviously because of what he was told about him and not because he met the guy.
RE: “I’m a Never Trump guy. Never liked him. He’s a terrible candidate. He might be America’s Hitler. He’s obnoxious, and reprehensible.”
So, why didn’t that bother Trump enough to NOT consider him?
I love his life story. But a bit squeamish that both him and his wife are Yalies.
RE: So, I guess you’re not voting for Trump.

I’d crawl over broken glass while lit on fire to vote for Trump.
I like Trump who just a bit older than me confuse names some times.
I meant to associate the two Yalie flip floppers Kerry and Vance.
RE: I love his life story. But a bit squeamish that both him and his wife are Yalies.
Let’s remind ourselves that the great Justice Clarence Thomas is a Yalie. So is Justice Samuel Alito, the one who ruled to bring down the Roe v. Wade decision.
My bad.
I confused names.
I explained in another comment.
Fair enough.
I just hope he keeps rooted.
As I said. Admire his story a great deal.
The left hates his guts, so there’s that.
Let’s not forget that Mark Levin was also a rabid Never Trumper, but changed his tune given Trump’s policies and governance early in his first term. Levin has been a staunch proponent of Trump ever since.
Well, there's a big plus right there.
Well, Trump has made his choice. If you support him, do you not support his sense and wisdom in his choices?
Yes. I greatly appreciate Levin. He’s a brilliant legal mind, and on the right side of most issues.
A lot of people were mistaken about Trump, at first.
