Eagerness to kill bears? You do know that these articles are not about bear hunting, right? The people involved weren't trying to encounter the bears. The bears in these articles were fired upon because the bear forced itself on the people. I think it is a valid assumption to conclude the pistol bearers would have preferred to never have had the encounter. The pistol is the last resort.

Discussion about pistol calibers for bear defense is a legitimate topic that shouldn't be sabotaged by someone who should just move on to the next topic. You just skipping the topic is a lot more practical than you sabotaging the topic and expecting people to skip your responses. (If it is any consolation to you, I look at your comments, shake my head, and ignore them because that is what they warrant. At least, until now, I have skipped comment on them.)
