The U.S. Senate on Monday confirmed U.S. District Judge Nancy Maldonado to the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, making her as the the first Hispanic judge to hold this position.
The confirmation came despite a chorus of objections from Republicans who pointed out her massive backlog of trial court cases.
The Senate voted 47-43, which hears appeals from Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. This marks the fifth judge appointed by Joe Biden to be confirmed to the court, according to Reuters.
Maldonado’s elevation is part of Biden and the Democrats’ agenda to stack the judiciary with liberal figures despite her reportedly slow pace in ruling on cases.
...
Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) didn’t mince words, blasting Maldonado’s lagging performance.
“Of all 68 district judges confirmed last Congress, Judge Maldonado has the THIRD WORST record when it comes to issuing rulings in a timely manner. But Pres. Biden wants to promote her to an appellate court. Why?” Sen. John Kennedy wrote earlier this year.

Of all 68 district judges confirmed last Congress, Judge Maldonado has the THIRD WORST record when it comes to issuing rulings in a timely manner.
But Pres. Biden wants to promote her to an appellate court.
Why?
...
During her confirmation hearing, when questioned by Senator Kennedy on what does she mean by assault weapon, Maldonado responded, “I’m not a gun expert,”—a response that left many wondering if her expertise on constitutional matters might be just as thin.
...
On Monday, McConnel said on the Senate floor, “Confirming Judge Maldonado to [the 7th Circuit] would be taking a judge who has proven herself incapable of swimming in the shallow end of the pool and throwing her into Lake Michigan. The people and litigants of the 7th Circuit deserve better. And if my colleagues want to see basic competence in their judges — they outta reject this nominee.”
...
But the real surprise came when ten GOP senators failed to show up for this crucial vote. The judge’s nomination would have failed.
“Why did so many Senate Republicans miss this critical vote? Manchin and Sinema voted against this Biden nominee. Menendez is on trial in New York City. This radical Biden judge’s nomination would have failed if they’d shown up! Now we’re stuck with her for life,” said Mike Davis.

Why the hell did so many Senate Republicans miss this critical vote?
Manchin and Sinema voted against this Biden nominee.
And Menendez is on trial in New York City.
This radical Biden judge’s nomination would have failed.
Now we’re stuck with her for the rest of her life.

Here’s the roll call of the GOP who did not vote:
Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Markwayne Mullin (R-OK).
Marco Rubio (R-FL).
Rand Paul (R-KY).
Rick Scott (R-FL).
John Hoeven (R-ND).
James Risch (R-ID).
Mitt Romney (R-UT)
When did Chuckie call for the vote? Did he wait til he knew these Senators were taking vacation? I want to know who’s responsible for this. Politicians are the scum of the earth!
It’s their paid job to be there. These people never work.
my opinions:
If I can physically carry it by using my arms, Amendment II says I should be able to carry it on my own property and public property with unrestricted & uncontrolled access by the general public if persons like me can legally vote.
When the bearer is trespassing, Amendment II doesn’t come into play.
If the Secret Service sees me holding a Tommy gun in Lafayette Park, it can ask me to move away from their day-to-day area of control and arrest me if I refuse to reasonably comply.
Sorry, I should have put a sarc note.
So, our Congress Critters have set hours? Like Joe Biden’s 10 to 4? Or like ButtPlug’s maternity leave? When, literally, the future of this country is at stake...these people are of playing?
“So, like a 1911?”
I suspect if the Brady people were drafted and handed 1911s and told to take out a Russian pillbox, they would refuse to follow orders.
“Ukraine calls them meat assaults”
“Our guys stand in positions and fight, and when four or five waves of the enemy come at you in a day, which you have to destroy without end, it is very difficult - not only physically, but also psychologically.”
“Ukraine could not match the Russian tactics even if it had the numbers, partly due to a different attitude towards casualties. A senior general was removed in recent weeks after complaints he was using what are often called Soviet tactics - throwing people at the front lines.”

During her confirmation hearing, she was questioned by Republican senators over her case backlog, as, with 125 motions having been pending for more than six months without a ruling, Maldonado held one of the largest case backlogs of any federal trial court judge in the nation.
“The StG 44 (abbreviation of Sturmgewehr 44, “assault rifle 44”) is a German assault rifle developed during World War II by Hugo Schmeisser.”

“assault rifle” -> “assault weapon”
Creeps creep.
There is such a recourse in the Constitution, impeachment and trial in the Senate. Ask Alcee Hastings!
I see the racist far left Dung Beetles are still using Obama lawfare to try to lynch Justice Thomas. When the hell are the GOOBs going to start going after the Democrat’s SCOTUS Knitting Club, Doily Crocheters and Sewing Circle? We don’t need a SCOTUS made up completely of females.
GOP is the enemy, in lock step goose step with the DNC and WEF.
Fuggem.
“Operation Lightfoot began with a 1,000-gun barrage. The fire plan had been arranged so that the first rounds from the 882 guns from the field and medium batteries would land along the 40 mi (64 km) front at the same time. After twenty minutes of general bombardment, the guns switched to precision targets in support of the advancing infantry. The shelling plan continued for five and a half hours, by the end of which each gun had fired about 600 rounds, about 529,000 shells.”

Artillery guns, too heavy to carry in one’s arms, are typically used to blast the enemy before an infantry ground assault.
But a 1911 is a “semi-automatic firearm originally designed for military use” so that fits the definition you provided.
There goes the appeal of Pritzker’s semi auto ban. F the missing republicans,
Maybe they were on vacation and Schumer pulled a fast one.
Manchin for sure and Sinema probably only vote with the Republicans when their vote does not matter.
Historically, it also applied to such arms as cannon, mortars, armed ships and so on. ‘Every terrible implement of the soldier is the American citizen’s birthright’, per the founders.
