Dear god, not Rubio. Burgum would be boring, bring nothing to the table, and tied into big tech. Vance at least makes sense.
“NBC further reports that the choice will likely come down to Burgum and Vance”
Good, we don’t need pro-amnesty Rubio.
I’m sorry not to see Vivek Ramaswamy on the list. But Trump knows him better than I do.
Not an official PDJT announcement.
This “leak” is therefore far more likely a CIA op to pressure the choice the deep state wants, another snake in the bed like Pence.
They’ve done this very thing over and over. Don’t fall for it.
Too funny. Classic Trump.
Rubio is a Cuban McCain neocon who is all on for the war in Syria, Ukraine, and anywhere else he can find.
Never trust a Cube.
Burgum is in favor of Ukraine money, is tied into big tech, and wants North Dakota to become carbon-neutral by 2030. He wants to use of carbon capture and storage technology to capture and sequester carbon dioxide in the state’s geologic form. That is nothing but corporate welfare.
Sarah Sanders or Byron Donalds.
He’s picking Nikki Haley folks.
Because nobody’s a bigger supporter of Israel than she is.
Big, beautiful supporter of our wonderful friends. Lovely on the eyes too, I mean she could give my wife Melania a run for her money.
On time, under budget.
If Biden steals the election again, I hope Trump doesn't try again in 2028. Of course if the Democrats steal this election there is almost zero chance of any Republican winning in 2028...or 2032...or 2036. It will be like Mexico during the decades where the same party (PRI) won every time.
There is a real danger that the election will be stolen. But the situation is not quite as gloomy as it was in December 2020, when it didn't look like any Republican would have a fighting chance in 2024.
A couple of quick hot points from the 2024 presidential race and Trump side of the equation.
♦ First, we can ignore all of the typical pre-debate banter about who is doing what in the lead-up to the Trump v Biden debate. Every cycle the debate narratives are pushed for clicks and attention; almost all of it is manufactured nonsense and false.
Actual, professional, presidential debate teams do not leak information about their debate prep activity to the media. The only information released is from campaign players who want the other side to see, hear and waste time preparing for imaginary nonsense. All of the pre-debate stuff, banter, punditry and column inches are one big mind game of misinformation. Ignore all of it.
♦ Second, the DC system that created Mike Pence as the best option for Trump 2016 is the same system pushing Vance, Rubio and Burgum for 2024. [Example HERE]
The intent with Pence 2016 is the same intent with Vance, Rubio and Burgum ’24. I’m cautiously optimistic President Trump is well aware of this.
Seriously, how many times have you heard me repeat the warning:
NEVER TRUST A NEVER-TRUMPER.
Yet, time and time again people get wooed back, deny their instincts, dismiss the intellectual reality and drop their guard. Every single time the Trump supporters get burned.
This is not complicated folks. The Never-Trumpers do not change position, have an awakening, trip over some “come to Jesus” moment, engage in self-reflection, or otherwise evolve to stop thinking that Donald Trump is the end of their world. Never-Trumpers espoused that opinion, because Never-Trumpers saw value in holding that opinion. It is simple and should be accepted.
Those who claimed Trump was/is horrible, terrible, egotistical, evil and all the other adjectives to describe their sentiments, do not suddenly have a change in perspective. What changes them are changes in the instructions they are given. They begin praising Trump because there is new value in stating that opinion.
NEVER, EVER trust a never-Trumper. The stakes are too high.
♦ Third, apparently the secret service is increasing the security detail around President Trump.
Kelly O’Donnell: “Secret Service is ready to add new protectee detail for Trump running mate. USSS is also increasing size of Trump detail beyond level for formers. Official said, “The Secret Service detail has been bulked up by additional special agents and support teams to ensure the highest level of security for not only the event sites but the travel in between events.” (source)
Generally speaking, the current DC system operators, that are referred to as the ‘Biden administration’, have no motivation to protect Donald Trump other than their sense of personal responsibility to the nation President Trump represents.
Given the effort that Tucker Carlson has put into mainstreaming thoughts around the ‘killing of Trump‘, I am cautious to view any Secret Service effort through the prism of professional altruism.
I pray for the safety of President Trump and his family daily, because I am very clear-eyed about the nature of the enemy he faces.
I agree with that. The last thing Trump needs is an ambitious VP.
Burgum, maybe, but adds nothing. Pence was boring but added religious conservatives.
Rubio and Donalds (and even DeSantis), loses electoral votes so is distraction at best.
Senators? I don't see it.
Sanders? She dismissed herself from the running, but I doubt she'd turn Trump down.
Huckabee? That'd help with religious conservatives but Trump doesn't really need them so much this time around.
Gabbard? Independent, checks off a lot of boxes, and would add to the base.
Who else actually adds new voters, draws from Dems and Independents?
Rand Paul?
I’m from Ohio - losing Vance would mean another hard fought Senate Race. The Dems will keep the Sherrod Brown seat this year and put up a vicious fight for Vance’s seat in 2026.
Keep JD Vance in the Seante where he is needed.
Supposed Trump Criteria: loyalty, looks, and wealth
Why, that’s nearly as good as skin color, gender and how you have sex!
I don’t think it’s really that big a deal, unless it’s a woman or a minority for the liberals to open the spigot of hate upon.
It is hilarious that this contradicts the earlier Youngkin thread.
Nobody has any credibility on this topic.
Rubio’s political career should have ended at that 2016 debate when Chris Christie made a total ass out of him.
I don’t buy that list - it is a distraction, and not terribly imaginative (IOW, distinctly non-Trumpian). Here’s my guess:
Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Why?
1. Governor, and thus has the executive experience necessary to do a good job if she needs to take over.
2. Solidifies/grows the evangelical vote.
3. Solid small government conservative.
4. Obviously female, so that take that weapon out of the hands of the Dems.
5. Former press Secretary, so she knows what to say or not, and when - plus she doesn’t take abuse from anyone.
6. Definitely a patriot, through and through, and would be a worthy candidate in 2028.
7. She has ALWAYS been loyal to Trump - no back-stabbing like Pence.
Trump has learned nothing from being backstabbed non-stop by the neoCONs, apparently
If those are the only ones Trump is considering, two of them make no sense to me - Vance and Rubio.
Vance makes no sense to me for two reasons - we need him in the Senate and Trump does not need Vance to win.
Rubio makes no sense to me because I believe Rubio is unpopular with a lot of Trump’s base, and I don’t thnk indepedents are that found of him either, and he best serves the GOP where he is, like Vance, a sitting U.S. GOP Senator. And my fear is that Trump would take Rubio for V.P. as a form of getting back at DeSantis, and taking Rubio for V.P. instead of DeSantis if only Desantis had not mounted his own campaign. In other word I fear Trump would pick Rubio because Trump has a thin skin. Does Trump NEED to pick someone from Florid to get the Florida vote? I don’t think so.
As for Doug Burgum, I just don’t think he will excite any expansion of Trump supporters, in any demographic group.
I think Trump’s V.P, pick should be like Trump - someone unexpected.
