Anticipation over selection over who President Trump will select as his running-mate reached fever pitch over the weekend as the 45th President proclaimed just before a rally in Philadelphia he had already made the pick in his mind.
Now, reports have emerged that the list of contenders for the coveted number two spot has narrowed.
NewsNation has learned Trump has finalized his list to three candidates: North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio. CNN and NBC have also revealed the same three names are finalists on Trump’s list.
Trump’s original list also included Senators Tim Scott (R-SC) and Tom Cotton (R-AR), Representatives Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY), as well as former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson in addition to the three finalists.
NBC further reports that the choice will likely come down to Burgum and Vance. NBC notes that Burgum has made a massive impression on Trump, particularly with his loyalty, looks, and wealth.
Another point in Burgum’s favor is that his understated demeanor means there’s no risk of him outshining the 45th President. Trump wants workhorses to help advance his agenda, not folks looking to rush to the cameras.
Moreover, Burgum will also be in attendance at Trump’s debate with Joe Biden this Thursday according to NewsNation. This is potentially significant because Trump has said that his pick would be at the showdown.
It is unknown at this point whether Vance and Rubio will be in attendance as well.

I predicted that Trump would pick Haley for Labor, not VP.
That's where he put McConnell's wife in 2016. "...keep your enemies closer." IMHO, VP is too close.

The VP is selected by the party leadership, not the presidential candidate. That’s why it’s not unusual to have a President-VP ticket where the two candidates can’t stand each other.
She was the Secretary of Labor in the GWB administration.
Is it the head of the RNC? Because that's Lara Trump and Michael Whatley.
Is it the Speaker of the House and the Minority Leader in the Senate? Because Mike Johnson is on "Team Trump" and Mitch McConnell is a lame duck.

* Balanced budget
* Rebuilding the Navy
* Ending DEI, ESG, CRT, etc, etc
* Closed border
* Deporting 20-30 million illegals
* Deporting hate American moslems fomenting the caliphate inside our country
* Getting bums into mental hospitals to clean up the cities
* Ending the Marxist project
* Restoring pride in America
Reince Priebus didn’t select Mike Pence to run with Trump in 2016. Neither did Trump.
In a typical election cycle, the presidential candidate is a sitting or former governor who has no solid ties to Washington. The VP candidate is selected to keep a party loyalist inside the new administration and reduce the influence of outsiders. That’s how it has worked for years — in both parties.
Great list, I would simply add deport all illegal aliens, maybe even all non-citizens.

Make the very best POTUS, especially if they have years of business experience. Senators and Congressmen are awful; the more time in those houses, the worse they are. Senators hide behind the 100. Same with Reps. They have no executive authority. Governors have had tremendous executive experience. The very best of them was Reagan.
Tulsi was an anti-gunner in the past - and thus every bit as trustworthy as “former” Never Trumpets, which is to say that I trust her as far as I can throw an aircraft carrier. She used to be a Dem, and still makes Dem-like noises on some issues. No, just no. Maybe as a Cabinet officer, but that’s it.
It should be Vivek - he is the only one other than Trump who has the balls to call them out for stealing elections and perverting the justice system.
Why would Trump have endorsed Moreno if he’s a loser?

The issue of having two candidates from the same state is really a non-issue when either candidate can change their residence in a matter of a day or two at most. This is exactly what happened in 2000 with Dick Chaney, who was then residing in Houston. In the run up to the convention, no choice had been announced, but some enterprising reporter found out that Cheney took a nighttime charter flight back to Wyoming. As soon as I saw that, I knew that he was going to be the Veep nominee.
In this case, Trump has a residence in New York City, and has a luxury golf course complete with luxury suites in Bedminster, NJ. If I were Trump, I would definitely not move back to New York City, where the taxes are the highest in the nation and where he has been thoroughly abused by the state and city government. New Jersey isn’t much better, but they do have lower taxes and have not brought any cases against him. Of course, he could also move to another 0% income tax state that is friendly (Texas would welcome him with open arms). Once the election is over, which at worst would be about two weeks before the inauguration when Congress accepts the Electoral Votes, he can reestablish residency anywhere he would like to, as The residency of the President and the Vice President only matters at the time of the election
I don’t buy that list - it is a distraction, and not terribly imaginative (IOW, distinctly non-Trumpian). Here’s my guess:
Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Why?
1. Governor, and thus has the executive experience necessary to do a good job if she needs to take over.
2. Solidifies/grows the evangelical vote.
3. Solid small government conservative.
4. Obviously female, so that take that weapon out of the hands of the Dems.
5. Former press Secretary, so she knows what to say or not, and when - plus she doesn’t take abuse from anyone.
6. Definitely a patriot, through and through, and would be a worthy candidate in 2028.
7. She has ALWAYS been loyal to Trump - no back-stabbing like Pence.
