the story is two-fold...who in Iowa committed treason to the state in selling the IDWR...and who bought it

Very interesting… Money sent to Ukraine is being used for Cobalt mining in Idaho.

Lots of congress members own stock in this cobalt mine.

Cobalt mining uses lots of water.

The farmers in Idaho were told that there is a water shortage and they were being shut off.

The cobalt mine will now be operating 24 hours a day and using tons more water.

“This order was scheduled to go into effect recently. The curtailment order impacts about 6,400 junior groundwater rights holders who pump water from the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer. “

The ignorance is appalling, this has nothing to do with cobalt mining, nor some tinfoil qtard quackery about some billionaire war on farmers.

With less than 5 min of actual reading comprehension skills it can be known this is junior water right holders pumping more than their allowed amounts from GROUNDWATER that is up steam from senior water rights holders who have surface water rights and are first in line first in use by law. Groundwater base flows are the source of the surface water flows that are being shorted in this case by 74,000 acrefeet. While other reservoirs and rivers in Idaho are full this specific River system and it’s upstream groundwater system are not overflowing. Junior holders must stop pumping if they take water from senior holder regardless of if that means their crops fail. They stole water from someone else who had first right of use. Zero sympathy for junior holders who are stealing water. Wet years also have diddly to do with groundwater it takes years for surface water flows and infiltration to reach the groundwater zone for recharge to happen. There is a 2016 agreement with the groundwater junior holders to replenish after the growing season the aquifer levels as long as they DO NOT EFFECT the down stream senior water rights. Guess what they broke that agreement and now the state rightfully so should smack them down for it. I don’t see what’s so hard to understand senior holders could take every drop before the junior holders and there is nothing wrong with that the water is their property first.

Hmmm... Twin Falls Canal Co. has the senior water rights according to the article. I’m wondering now whether TFCC has sold off its seniority to water to Jervois Mining.

Sigh...No the water is not going to mining. Does anyone bother to read before knee jerk reacting. It’s been clear for weeks that junior water rights holders have been pumping more than they are allowed too and harming senior water rights holders down stream. Nothing more nothing less. The state stepped in and said stop stealing water you don’t have rights too or face a total cut off. It’s irrelevant that other rivers and reservoirs have higher than usual amounts that has zero to do with this aquifer and it’s down stream river system. You couldn’t pump water from those other basins to this one if your tried. It’s over multiple basin divides and up hill each time. Actually read the background the junior groundwater holders broke their 2016 agreement by 74,000 acrefeet and now have to not only honor that agreements but also give back the 74,000 acrefeet or face a 100% cut.off where in any of that is cobalt. This is just junior holders screwing over downstream people who own the water before them. First in use first in rights it’s hundreds of years of precedence.
