You get the government you vote for. Why is there not enough ground water?
If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand.

There is. But the reason Idaho wants to shut the farmers water off is to benefit Jervois Mining, the cobalt (lithium) harvesting company near the Salmon River in Idaho. It has just been granted a 24/7 mining operation permission. The company needs vast amounts of water for their processing. Lithium for batteries.
My grandfather owned a flour mill in Pokie. Glad he’s not alive to see the turd that’s developed. I have a couple of rifles that survived Snake River floods.
I know for a fact Idaho is being flooded by those scumbags from kalifornia. Could it also be the water shortage is from all those invaders?
Gotta have their water for cobalt mining which requires a lot of water.
FYI:
“ICO is the only primary cobalt mine in the United States and will supply a critical metal necessary for electric vehicles, energy generation and distribution, defense and other industries and plays a key role in the transition to the low carbon economy.”
And:
“Voluntary Initiatives, Guiding Principles and Frameworks
Jervois continues to progressively take steps towards aligning our approach to sustainability with the guiding frameworks whose principles we support. This includes:
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
UN Global Compact
UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
IFC Social and Environmental Performance Standards
Paris Agreement“

Sounds like the farmers might have to borrow from what the Dutch did. Those are ruinous prices.
Unlike the Brandon chicom bribe story, it’s over -
Gov. Little applauds successful negotiations to avoid eastern Idaho water curtailment
Curious my cousin lived in Jerome, right next to Twin.
His AG water as did others came from the Snake river or things feeding it.
Too much water for pumps was flowing in and through his ditches, they flowed 24/7.
You can run a Pivot off a well, but it doesn’t run 24/7.
“CDA has a population boom of what I expect are more people jumping the border from Spokane/Eastern Washington then Californians. If you’ve ever been in Spokane, you’d understand why without me explaining.”
Interesting comment. Since I grew up in So Cal and also lived twenty plus years in WA state, and had family in Idaho
I have some comments about this phenomena.
Most all native Californians are very conservative.
What ruined the state were East coast liberals that moved in
so the natives moved out.
You are correct about the cities, Oregon, Wa, ID and NV all have the same problem. Large city liberals are screwing up the states.
But the incoming liberals to those states figure out quickly that outside the city the rules are VERY different and they adapt or leave.
Water rights are always a complicated mess.
More war on farmers, which is also war on everyone who eats.
We have lots of farmers in Florida- that’s where I’ve gotten about 40% of our produce and meat since 2021. Now insurance companies are suddenly coming up with any reason to no longer insure a farmer. It’s no coincidence. Government does NOT want a healthy self sufficient population.
sounds to me like the 6,400 junior groundwater rights holders have been stealing someone else’s water ...
In Colorado, all water (both surface and underground) is privately owned, and water ownership is equivalent to real estate ownership. Legally established seniority of ownership is sacrosanct: no Colorado farmer (or anyone else for that matter) would even think about stealing someone else’s water because the penalties are so severe ...
…For EVs, I bet. That no one wants, I’d also wager.
I lived in that beautiful farming land c. 1958. Filer, Idaho. What as great place to be a kid it was! How awful to lose the culture of family farming. This is so sad and senseless.
I was about 11... weighed 60 lbs soking wet. I read Tom Sawyer and decided it was a good idea to build a raft..had to be a BIG raft! Got stuck in the canal and messed up irrigation systems for miles! I expected a whipping but Daddy told Mama, “You’re the one who let her read Mark Twain!”
Those redneck Christian ranchers were very forgiving. Best people on earth.
Every kid should be so lucky..
And most of the land in Colorado is own by the Federal Government.
Similar problems for states in the northern Colorado watershed. Shortage of water and the feds are cutting other states allocations more so California gets smaller cuts.
