I was born in 1947, and always thought that velvet was more for the fall and winter months. I remember buying a couple of velvet dresses with satin trim during the winter to wear to Christmas and New Year’s parties. I always thought it was one of those rules like you don’t wear white shoes after Labor Day. Perhaps fashion has changed since then. I just find that heavy velvet fabric would be too hot in June.
