Give it 20 years earlier and Green Eyes and you have Grace Slick!
Great tune.
Thanks. Lot of people don’t know the guitar player and the lead singer on the song are brother and sister.
I loved Athens and Atlanta in the 80’s. It was artsy and fun, instead of dark and pretentious like many Bohemian “scenes.”

I saw them about 3 months after this, and they were not well received. Not sure that billIng them between Joan Jett and The Who was a good idea.
Watch the dc concert tap from 1980. Black and white. Unbelievable passion in that one.
I saw them in ‘82 in San Fran. Probably the same setlist. I was disappointed they didn’t do “Quiche Lorraine.”
Here’s their official video from 1979. They didn’t have the beehive hairdos back then. Check out Tom Brady on drums.

Dude! Thanks a million for that. I’m indeed going to have a good Memorial Day holiday now!
Like I said above, Southern art tends to be a little more eccentric. That said, you couldn’t have paid me to go watch the Who in 1982. And Joan Jett...lol
I like a few songs from them, but I believe they are an overrated band in the grand scheme of things. Plus being way too far left political doesn’t endear me to them any extra.
Rock Lobster and Private Idaho. Awesome tunes.
I like the B-52s. Long time ATL guy. Cindy Wilson lived for about 15 or 20 years about 20 houses away around the corner. I really do like them.
That said, we saw the B-52s warm up for Culture Club / Boy George about half a dozen years ago. It was *very* apparently why Culture Club was the headline act. The B-52s are a fun party band, but Culture Club were just much superior musicians. And I expect the same was apparent in that lineup.
B-52s use plenty of energy.
They weren’t bad. There were just two distinct audiences there, that day, and you could tell at a glance who belonged to which. It was packed shoulder to shoulder, down front, even then. People were amped up to see The Who, and the -52s were in the way. If someone took their shoes off, or came up with an orange, or something else to throw, they’d yell out, and a space big enough for them to really wind up and let it fly would open up.
