Spent most of the day at Ft. Pierce federal courthouse to cover two hearings in classified docs case.
Special Counsel team's frustration with Judge Aileen Cannon is really evident.
And it's glorious.
David Harbach, one of Smith's lead prosecutors and usually a cool customer in court, had a series of mini temper tantrums this morning. At times pounding his fist on the podium and clapping his hands in anger to emphasize a point, Harbach was totally unprofessional, demeaning, and petulant.
Cannon asked Harbach to "calm down" during one diatribe about accusations DOJ threatened one of the defense attorneys to get his client to flip on Donald Trump.
He kept trying to argue with her--Cannon also remains measured most of the time and is no fan of antics--and when she asked him a question about an issue, he shot back "that's not the right question."
A few reporters in the media room even gasped.
Harbach is flailing bc his case is imploding.
DOJ never thought their dirty, sloppy, corrupt tricks would see the light of day. Biden regime never thought information such as the FBI's operations order related to MAL raid that included lethal force guidance would ever be made public.
But Cannon is systematically dismantling this case by holding hearings (like today) and ordering the unsealing of key motions and evidence. She is a one-woman wrecking crew and Smith's team knows there is very little they can do about it.
And she is nowhere near finished. Just this week, in addition to the unsealed motions posted yesterday that revealed details about the MAL raid, Cannon ordered the unsealing of several motions filed earlier in the case.
I'm working on a Substack post for the weekend on the nature of the motions today and the proceedings--but suffice to say Jack Smith's team already appears deflated and defeated.

“What’s the point of even having a trial if we rig the jury? Nothing good will come from it”
Judge Cannon seems patient and measured, maintaining order and consistency, and allowing zero short cuts.
Doesn’t matter ..the outcome has already been determined...even before this went to trial.
Judge Cannon shows what actual professionalism in the courtroom looks like. The Colombia migrant RAT-appointed Merchan should take some lessons from her.
“the outcome has already been determined...even before this went to trial”
You mind expounding on that?
Just making the prosecution follow the procedural rules is driving them crazy. That shows 1)arrogance, 2)laziness, and 3)poor trial prep (because they thought they wouldn’t have to).
What’s to expound..?
Everything from Russia collusion..to both impeachments .. The “evidence” is weak and the testimony is lame and proves nothing....and everyone involved in this bogus witch hunt should do the right thing and eat lead.
Mephistopheles
Are you confusing New York with Florida? I bet she throws it out.
I was hoping to get in before the pissemists who always say (when something goes right for us): “It won’t change anything; it won’t do any good.”
I have to believe there’s always hope. I think it’s why Joshua told the Israelites to keep their mouths shut as they circled Jericho. He knew of their propensity to bellyache about God and His leaders.
I also think about Gen. Washington losing battle after battle, from pillar to post, until they finally were able to administer the coup de grace in the end. That’s how patriotic Americans think.
Why would anyone be negative about the MAL case? The judge has already exposed major holes in the prosecution, likely with more to come. They’re going to have to rehab their approach, and we are months from the start of trial.
Judge Canon has figured out what’s going on in this case. I bet she throws it out along with Smith and the rest of the trash.
That's because they thought that DOJ would get to try Trump in front of the Kangaroos of the DC Circuit, forgetting that since they raided Mar-a-Lago, the offenses occurred in Florida and would have to be heard there despite the legally dubious DC grand jury used to indict.
Oops...it felt kind of good to rant anyhow.
I suspect she is going to expose the criminal conspiracy to target Trump to the public and then issue a ruling confirming that Smith was illegally appointed and has no legal standing to even preside over his prosecutions in DC and Florida.
What does a prosecutor on the wrong side of the issue do when he's cornered like a mouse?
(And the law certainly doesn't comport with the prosecutor's alleged criminal behavior, what's Harbach going to do? It's more than curious that there is no video or transcription of the meeting, as would be de rigeur.)
Nauta's lawyer made clear he was prepared to take the witness stand to swear to the truth of the multiple lawyers' career-ending and prison-terminating judgeship bribery issue, as represented.
At that point, rather than for Harbach merely to pound the table and say it just didn't happen, that the accused prosecutor didn't boldly intervene to say that he was prepared to swear under oath that nothing like it ever happened was an overriding tell.
What’s the point of even having a trial if we rig the jury.
The jurors in the Trump cases are just props their votes have already been stamped guilty.
Brown envelopes to be handed out after trial.
