IT states that is was a Halfway House in Palm Beach, FL.
I assume this means she went to rehab for something. Most likely drugs/sex. She got out of rehab and was in the half way house. When she left, based on everything I have read in the past, she left some stuff at the house including the diary.

I am not sure how it was a crime.
