The deal is Russia keeps what it has, Ukraine gets NATO membership, the war ends. Russia also is guaranteed that Ukraine won’t be able to get nuclear weapons or 5th generation fighters or current equipment, nor will such weapons be based there. Russia will be allowed to inspect this. However should Russia invade again it’s article 5 and all bets are off. Russia would have to pay some reparations.
That's the only way Ukraine will stop fighting. The peace treaty will have to include NATO membership and we'll have to send in troops immediately to secure Kyiv once the war is over.
Russia will disarm this hostile Ukraine and make it a landlocked neutral rump city state. This doesn’t end with NATO in Ukraine. It ends with Ukraine having a police force without tanks or APCs.
Does Russia get to keep areas it has taken that were not majority ethnic Russian?
