Donald Trump will not pick a hardline pro-life candidate as his running mate over concerns that it would be electorally unwise, according to latest reports.
NBC reported on Sunday that Trump has been asking about the positions of various potential vice-presidental picks on the issue, with particular concerns raised about Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
“The president understands it as a treacherous issue — one that you can actually trip up and fall on your face with,” said a source close to Trump. “He’s concerned it will have a drag on the ticket if they’re seen as holding too staunch a position.”
Trump’s apparent red line is someone who supports anything stricter than a six-week ban.

I like Noem too. Tim Scott, not so much.
There’s no perfect candidate and I’m not a single issue voter. Anyone who is shouldn’t vote because they’re idiots.
A lot here who love to shoot themselves in the foot have taken the bait - then they wail and gnash their teeth when conservatives lose...
How about a strong one?
“This may anger some, but there are instances where neither you, nor I, nor the government should be involved when a woman has to make a very difficult choice. those choices are when her body has been criminally violated, or when it is her life at stake.” Allen West
It has to remain a “STATES RIGHTS” issue, period. That is the only thing that sells to the whole population..
THAT is what he needs to emphasize.
Ooooooh! yet ANOTHER “report” about whom Trump may or may not pick for VP ... yawn ... must be a slow news day ...
The baby was unavailable for comment ...
“I will fight to end the practice of murdering our unborn children in Texas as a means of birth control.” Allen West
I don’t want Tim Scott anyway. Pro life or not. He is a McConnell butt boy. He is an infiltrator.
The baby is still unavailable for comment.
Abortion isn’t about making “difficult decisions” or “birth control”, it’s about killing babies.
Rhetoric such as Allen West’s, which obfuscates that fundamental fact, is part of the problem. Abortion means KILLING BABIES. Nothing else. Covering that up with euphemism is evil.
If the Republicans want to make sure that Roe v Wade becomes “the law” again from sea to shining sea in all 50 States then they should push to have Abortion banned at the federal level. Then enough of the pro-Abortion people will get out to vote and defeat them. And we’ll then see that the Court becomes full of more ultraliberals & Congress/WH pass all sorts of laws.
Now if the Republicans would like to ensure that they win then they should firmly say that Abortion is not a matter of concern for the federal government. Its a matter for the state/local levels to work out with their doctors/women & not some huge federal bureaucracy. If they do this then they win elections.
The choice is theirs. But if they choose to keep trying to federalize this issue then they lose. That’s the political math.
It’s time to wake up and stop thinking that Washington DC should police the world. Has it ever occurred to the Republicans wanting to ban abortion nationwide that the people they seek to ban on abortions can go to other countries to get their abortions? The only way to stop that is to bomb the rest of the world to Kingdom Come. And frankly that doesn’t sound very pro-life to me.
Yes, the complete fanatics are unreachable, but there are women along the spectrum whose votes are winnable or losable as they weigh the issue against others.
Have you seen the commercial Noem did for the dentist who did her teeth? It’s embarrassing. I don’t think Trump was too happy about it.
Abortion is up to each state. Right?
Noem is a joke. She’s a lightweight, “check the boxes” candidate and we really don’t need that, and, as Republicans, we shouldn’t even be endorsing the idea.
I think J.D. Vance is the perfect candidate—he’s speaking out on MAGA issues and is taking heat for it; he has military service in his background; he has a topnotch education and he’s smart; and he’s written a best-selling book that described the plight of his ancestors and other white, working-class folks from Appalachia whom nobody gives a damn about and whose ancestors actually built this country and fought in its wars (unlike Biden’s illegal aliens).
Furthermore, he’s good looking in an Abraham Lincoln kind of way and will appeal to women voters. For such a youngish man, he has gravitas when he speaks. He’s proven he can handle the MSM and would wipe up the floor with Kamala in a debate. Steve Bannon’s crowd is backing him which may carry some weight with Trump.
Not a good look for Trump to not have anyone with strong morals.
JD Vance is senator today because Vivek Ramaswamy highly recommended Vance to Trump during their first meeting in 2021. Trump endorsed JD and he went on to win the race. Vance was a classmate of Ramaswamy’s at Yale Law.
Well, having thought about this for a bit, although it’s disappointing in President Trump personally, I am now wondering if it’s a moot point as far as his opinion, or his VP pick.
With SCOTUS transferring the abortion issue back to each individual state, the viewpoint of the president is pretty much irrelevant as far as the law is concerned. It’s comforting to know that the executive is pro-life, but if the onus is now on the states, it’s neither here nor there. Unless I’m missing something, which is more than possible.
