Getting Gassy: CNN BEGS Readers ‘Don’t Panic’ About Four-Month High Gas Prices

CNN is back to its old schtick of desperately spinning higher gas prices to look like no big deal for Americans, even though they’re currently hovering at four-month highs.

CNN addressed gas prices hitting $3.40 a gallon on Friday, after bottoming out at $3.07 in January. Instead of just reporting the straight news, CNN reporter Matt Egan begged readers in his headline: “Gas prices have surged to four-month highs. Don’t panic.” Egan has become a comedic figure at CNN for persistently doing the facts tango for President Joe Biden to deceive Americans struggling to pay at the pump, so it’s not surprising he’s back to his old tricks again.

Egan warned in his latest spin, “The speedy price increase threatens to unwind progress on inflation and add to the financial pressure some Americans are feeling.” But not to fear though, Egan pleaded, “experts say there is no reason to panic about gas prices, at least not yet. Gas prices always rise at this time of the year.” But it’s not “always” the case that U.S. oil refineries are simultaneously struggling significantly to stay afloat due to increasingly daunting maintenance costs and regulations, inconvenient little factoids that undercut Egan's entire premise.

Don’t panic. You can panic all you want after the election and you vote for Biden.

Except as a loss leader at Costco and Sams, it’s over $3 a gallon around here, a few as cheap as $3.09, but most clustered around $3.19. You can get it for under $3 if you drive 20 miles are so beyond the outer suburbs, but not far enough that the transportation costs run it back up.

My suspicion (and it’s only a suspicion) is that come fall, we will see gas and food prices drop to try to sway the elections.

The dems will claim they fixed the problems Trump (Actually they) created and take credit for the good and hope enough sheeple believe it.

Here in fabulous Los Angeles it’s $4.89/gal. [and up, this is the cheapest in driving distance] bc of taxes and our roads are still all sh*t.

Yeah cheap gas over there but getting to it makes it less so. Unless it’s on the way you are going one has to calculate that these days.

Gas prices where I live are constantly going up & down, generally not going terribly high. That’s about the only thing that fluctuates that way. Other things are almost always in an upward direction. Wait until you have to pay for repairs on that vehicle; those prices are generally totally out out of reason. Some are to the point of costing more than the vehicle is worth. What then? I doubt that you can begin to buy a reasonably priced vehicle anywhere these days as well as not being able to fix the one you have.

Imagine what the story would be under Trump:

Gas rose up to $2.40 a gallon, up from a January low of $2.07. Sadly, it won’t go any higher due to excessive deregulation by Evil Trump. The environment is DOOMED!
