Public video of Miss America laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetary renders a hand salute rather than the “civilian” hand over your heart !
A CLASS ACT under criticism because she CHOSE to render a hand salute which she as an Active Duty AIRMAN has the option to do so whether in uniform or not.
What say you?
Veterans can salute during the Pledge of Allegiance too
Correct. This was a very public example - and most appropriate as she is not only miss America but is first and foremost an Active Duty Airman !
I got to salute Ronald Reagan, my commander-in-chief, in the Capital rotundra in 2004. Others seemed to follow.
Stirring the pot.
Awesome !
I know many retired service members who will often render the hand salute as opposed to the “hand over your heart” OPTION —. It is the OPTION of the service member to decide which is appropriate for the occasion. A very public formal ceremony I would expect to see more hand salutes from veterans after this class act.
How so?
Media guy notes obscure protocol to imply treason.
I don’t see that at all.
Well, you’re Canadian.
And……
Lots of Canadians follow US politics ??? I don’t see a conspiracy here. Lol
When Reagan’s funeral procession passed by our subdivision, most of the neighbors had their hands over their hearts, but I noticed that some did the salute. Now I understand why; they must have been veterans.
She can fly me anytime.
“she as an Active Duty AIRMAN ... What say you?”
I say that I’m gobsmacked that in this woke country a member of the U.S. military was even allowed to be in the contest, much less win Miss America
I remember that day. I was on Constitution Avenue along with a whole bunch of other people to watch that procession.
“I remember that day. I was on Constitution Avenue”
This was in Simi Valley. The Reagan Library bordered on to our subdivision, so the Secret Service allowed us to stand on the corner as the procession passed by.
Maybe they think she has testicles.
I can only imagine some of the unintended 2nd order effects of this in her career.
Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show. Much more to follow I am sure.
I salute her.
