On February 15th, 1989, the last Red Army soldiers left Afghanistan.

After 10 years of fighting, the Soviet-Afghan War was over,

The Red Army lost 14 000 man in 10 years.

Now, the Russians have lost 200 000+ in Ukraine in less than 2 years

I would like a Russian explain to me why is the tolerance by the Russian tolerance for Russo-Ukrainian War casualties so much greater than during the Soviet Union when they fought the Afghan War. It doesn’t make sense to me. They were Communists back then. But now, they are Capitalist. So on paper, they have more to live more. Or do they?
