I never thought I’d see
American Thinker ^ | February 12, 2024 | By Blaine L. Pardoe

There are days when I wake up in an America I hardly recognize. Some of that is my age, but much of it is astonishment. A part of me is thankful that my grandparents are not alive to witness what we all are. They would not have tolerated what we now take for granted.

I never thought I’d see….

America in another Cold War with Russia.

Cities ignore the law under the label of "Sanctuary Cities," then complain when illegal immigrants are sent there.

Government officials conspiring with Big Tech to censor millions of Americans online. The Federal government human trafficking over a million illegal and undocumented people a year.

A President who took deliberate actions to make the southern border weaker.

Congress and the media labeling a protest as an “insurrection” while calling actual riots, “peaceful protests.”

The American people turning a blind eye to a President who clearly is suffering from dementia and pretending that everything is all right.

The intentional weaponization of the Federal Government against a vast swath of the American people.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs stating that he would inform China if we opted to take military action against them.

Our public schools being turned into indoctrination centers by one political party.

Being told there are more than two sexes and that we had to agree to that or be ostracized.

Extremists threatening the lives of Supreme Court justices.

The FBI actively creating and taking part in crimes in order to make arrests.

Schools arguing to make offensive material available to minors in their libraries.

The government and a single political party attempt to take out an opposition candidate by charging him with trumped up crimes and civil action.

“Conservatives” have been pretending and coping for decades.

The illusion has always been that we are “just one election win away” from really turning things around.

But the defeats have reached critical mass now. So much so that no-one is willing to argue that we are just “one election win away”...

Whatever was valid about pre WW2 conservatism collapsed during the Depression. And any residual of Isolationism collapsed with post-WW2 Internationalism.

Ever since then, Progressives have set the agenda and “conservatives” have done nothing but quibble about the speed, and the details.

When I grew up, it was merely “a poem lovely as a tree.”

Times changed. Trees are distraught.

Good article, and one I wish everyone in the USA would read and heed.

Re "critical mass", the nation could well be "just one election away"...from lights out.

Sanctuary cities were originally to stop cooperating with feds re: detainers etc...for those illegals already in the sanctuary cities. They got punked by Texas and became sanctuary cities but NIMBYs

I’m grateful that my parents aren’t around to see this. My mother was a devout Catholic, and I know this would just horrify her.

Schools that do not teach American or world history; do not teach reading the classics or even reading at all; do not arithmetic or math; that do not teach foreign languages or Latin or Greek; that give everyone passing grades; that teach everyone the same - no higher learning, just mediocrity or worse.

Yes, that list is a good one. There are so many things there certainly never existed when I was much younger & in school & I can only imagine what the adults in those days thought. It’s a good thing they are not around these days to see all this that is happening “normally” in our world today. Of course, you have to remember how many more people in those days were used to accepting the Bible as a guideline to living. Sadly, much of that vital teaching is being lost now.

Probably the biggest change that will impact this country is the continuing decline of the white population. I don't say this as racist but from a perspective of commonality.

The bulk of this country was settled from western European stock.

Certain values such as the Puritan work ethic, the Christian faith, etc, were cornerstones for this country.

As time has passed we allowed more eastern Europeans in and then Asians.

And thanks to the "liar of the sinate" all immigration quotes were done away with.

To add to that korporate Amerika is selling us out with the H-1B visa nonsense bringing over people from India....another country with a completely different cultural background from this one.

And now, with the invasion from south of the border, and when amnesty is granted, this country will no longer resemble the one that fought WW2.

I never thought the 88% white majority of this country would be eroded away as quickly and as easily as it has.

It will make all the difference in this country's future.
