I suggest we all read the article, though heartbreaking it may be.

is a D or F grade actually “earned”?

seems like a misuse of the word .

when I was 10 or 11 there was an army/navy/marines/airforce recruiting station near my house.

once a year they had a big party and brought tanks, missile launchers and other military stuff, really cool

I went down there and got to know the guys cause sometimes they would give me stickers or other swag and they would show me card tricks and we would play various other card games.

at the time I liked to make models and they displayed them in the front area.

(someone broke in and stole them one day, but I didn’t really care)

anyway they a year or two later.

after high school I was hit up by a recruiter and took the whatever test.

He said how many do you think you missed, I was like did I get the right answer for #78, he made a big deal of looking at his paperwork and said no.

I said I did not miss any of them then, and he agreed.

how anyone can miss half I have no idea, and if people do I cry for our country

It’s sad when you’re thankful that your parents are dead.
To have them see what is going on — No.

Here are the last two paragraphs in the story.....

The election of 2024 is going to be the most divisive election that any of us have ever seen, our economic problems are rapidly accelerating, and global events threaten to turn all of our lives completely upside down.

So I hope that you have been getting prepared, because things will soon start breaking loose in a major way.

The election of 2024 may certainly be divisive, as the article describes. But, the point of the story, which is obvious to anyone with more than two brain cells, is that we are rapidly spiraling downward. This began many years ago. Probably around the 2008 financial crises -- maybe sooner with invasions and trillions spent on wars around the world, in particular the spectacular failures in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On top of that, we are now stirring up wars with China and Russia that will ultimately devastate what we have as a country if we end up in a conflict.

With war mongers galore and a growing debt heading to $40 trillion, there is no way in hell for us to survive.

This is not 1945. We no longer have the wind at our back. We fritted away the gains of our greatest generation and of our forefathers. One only needs to look at the countries aligning under the BRICS umbrella to see this movement. It's not hard to see if you only look.

This will not end well, and the story is spot on! The only question is WHEN.

When I was young, I often wondered what it must have been like to live during the fall of the Roman Empire.

I remember a TV commercial like that in the 60s/70s

When I was young I wondered what it was like to live in Russia with no free press, a corrupt judicial system with political prisoners and the KGB.

Thirty years to go from Global Dominance to Globe-leading decadence.

I don’t think there is another historic example where the fall was so fast.

We’ve reached a critical stage of “afflueza”.

It’s the disease that causes people to no longer appreciate how well they have it, and more importantly what produced it and who.

The good news is that it contains its own cure. It destroys who and what people no longer appreciate.

The bad news, is that the cure is quite painful.

The ancient Romans know all about it.

Certain people who can’t or won’t do anything right but get elected anyway who are causing most of our problems, but then they are being elected by others just as capable of making the same poor selections. I’m beginning to wonder if we had all good, well meaning people running for office...would we still manage to get the losers?

I think we’re in the proto-Weimar republic stage.

The government is leftist, printing out money, devaluing it, and borrowing currency it will soon have no means of repaying, deviancy is being normalized, more abortions are performed than live births, and people are being pushed to either ends of the political spectrum.

As Yeats said “The center cannot hold*
And..
*What rough beast slouches towards Bethlehem!*
