The verdict in the civil fraud trial against President Trump has been delayed until early to mid-February, according to a New York court spokesperson.
The non-jury Soviet-style show trial played out in court for 11 weeks. Far-left Judge Arthur Engoron previously said he would deliver a verdict by January 31.
The early to mid-February date is a “rough estimate” and the decision will be a “written filing,” The Guardian reported.
It is unclear why there is a delay, however, legal watchers have speculated that it may be because of a last-minute letter from a former federal judge.
Former federal judge Barbara Jones, a Clinton appointee, sent a January 26 letter claiming she identified “certain deficiencies” about a $48 million loan Trump received in 2012 related to his building in Chicago.
The Guardian reported:
Though the court did not specify why Engoron is taking extra time on his verdict, reports have suggested a letter from the former federal judge Barbara Jones, sent on 26 January, is likely a factor in the delay.
Jones has been serving as the court-appointed monitor overseeing the Trump Organization’s financial reports since November 2022.
In her letter, Jones told Engoron that she identified “certain deficiencies in the financial information that I have reviewed, including disclosures that are either incomplete, present results inconsistently, and/or contain errors”.
Included in Jones’s letter were her concerns about a $48m loan Trump received in 2012 by an entity affiliated with his building in Chicago. Trump reported the loan, which has no formal loan agreement, on his financial statement as a liability for multiple years. But in conversations with the Trump Organization, the company determined that “this loan never existed”.

Appealing should put a halt to this persecution until it can be thrown out, eventually.
Exactly. The judge knows it, too but the headline and judgement is what they need for the election cycle.
A guilty verdict, without a trial, for a non elected judge to issue a sentence.
Seems fair, if you a democrat destroying you political enemies.
Since she’s offering this belated “evidence.” shouldn’t this Jones be cross-examined? Was she a witness in the trial?
Doesn’t New York have an impoverishing rule that appealing a cash award verdict against you requires posting a bond equal to the verdict amount and interest on it as the appeal goes on?
If Trump reported the loan, whats the freakin problem sounds like he followed the rules..whatever the organization did is their problem Trump did what he was supposed to do
“Since she’s offering this belated “evidence.” “
The other day, judge specifically told Trump he could not add evidence for his defense.
Timing is everything. The SC primary is Feb 24.
Feels like a delay to try and mess with Super Tuesday.
Also this judge if you want to call him that has ZERO and I mean ZERO jurisdiction as far as Chicago is concerned and seriously they are going back to 2012 to find dirt on this man..here’s an idea, perhaps Trump when he was 3 pooped in the sandbox but has denied doing that, can he still be prosecuted
The delay is to time the verdict for the February 24 South Carolina primary, in order to give Nikki Haley talking points to run on in her home state.

(The other day, judge specifically told Trump he could not add evidence for his defense.)
Exactly! That’s what the judge did to Alex Jones in his case.....and fined him $965 million dollars.
These people are really making pigs of themselves.
Delayed until Feb 25th, that’s my guess
Disagree, Feb 25th. She’s not going to win SC, gotta dampen the bounce. If you have this to talk about the next day you don’t have to spend time talking about Trump winning across multple demographics or how the Republican turnout was vastly bigger than the Rats.
Could be because Alan Weisselberg is being investigated for possible perjury.

He’s waiting for his go-time signal from DOJ to maximize impact.
Could you please fill me in on who Alan Wessielberg is as I haven’t been able to follow the case.
Thank you.
