In a conversation with City Council candidate Chris Moore, Florez expressed his frustration, stating, “It is literally the definition of kicking someone when they are down.” The police arrived an hour after the robbery, only to secure the premises with a piece of wood and duct tape. The subsequent invoice for their response added insult to injury, with Florez highlighting the financial strain of the incident and the impracticality of expecting more funds for the police intervention.

Its more reliable and effective.
Well, the fire department charges when they make a call. And the ambulance. Fortunately, our water bill includes $10/month for those services. Some of the towns aren’t so lucky.
Sounds like the town in Mexico where I worked for a while in the 90s. If you wanted the police to even pretend to do anything, you had to donate about $20 for “gas money”.
Worse than dealing with the mob.
With the mob, you pay in advance weekly, but at least you don’t get robbed.
Nothing in article states how much was the victim was fined by the cops for calling them.
It’s now about $1,200 for an ambulance ride by the LAFD, but only if you have a SS number. Taxes not enough to cover cost of basic gov operations? Or money already spent on illegals/EV buses/tranny surgeries?
Move your business to a location where this isn’t an issue (the crime or the political punishment).
Shoot, shovel, shut-up, and save.
Part of Obama's "fundamental transformation."
The purpose is to discourage businesses from reporting crimes.
If a crime isn’t reported, then it doesn’t enter the crime statistics.
That’s right.
Police have always charged money to respond to false business alarm calls where I live.
And I know that in some places you pay a yearly fee to the fire dept, and if you don’t pay and your house burns they will come out to make sure your neighbor who paid doesn’t have his property damaged.
It’s common for obvious false alarm calls to be billed by police due to negligence by the owner, never a legit call.
Deduct those charges from the taxes paid to city!
Just another minor detail in the mosaic of the country’s demise,
Why do they have to pay taxes ? so the council can party ?
So, just shoot the perp.
Dispose of body.
Don’t call the cops, it cost money! They don’t even have to leave Dunkin’
Everyone wins!
In years past the local volunteer fire department would charge $800 for their response if you did not pay their annual dues amount.
Their last statement said the response fee amount was federally set if I remember right.
The dues were $100 this year. My mother paid $10 per year in the late 1960s to the Verdoy Volunteer Fire Department in upstate New York. They gave out a coin collector type thing and you filled it with 40 quarters.
Its more reliable and effective.
That's when the police will show up immediately...to arrest the store owner for violating the "rights" of the criminal.
“Why do they have to pay taxes ?”
So connected people can pretend to do work for 40 years and get 60 to 70 years of pay.
