The U.S. has become the world’s top exporter of liquefied natural gas. President Biden is finding that this superpower status comes with its own set of headaches.
In the past two years, hundreds of cargoes loaded with supercooled gas departed the U.S. Gulf Coast as foreign buyers turned to America for energy supplies. Developers of export terminals have seized the momentum to advance plans to build new plants and crank out even more LNG.
Now, climate activists and Democratic lawmakers are exhorting the Biden administration to halt this expansion. They argue that the federal government, which has to approve LNG projects, is failing to account for the harmful effects of gas exports on the climate, the U.S. economy and local communities.
In December, Greenpeace projected images of flares burning excess gas and other images onto government buildings around Washington, D.C.
“President Biden, STOP THE GAS BOOM,” read one projection.
And on Tuesday, national environmental leaders called for a three day sit-in at the Energy Department in February to pressure the Biden administration to pause the approval of new LNG facilities.
The mounting opposition comes as Biden heads into a contentious presidential election, in which fossil-fuel supplies will be a key issue. The candidate has to corral young, climate-concerned voters, some of whom view his track record on the environment as mixed after his administration approved several fossil-fuel projects. He must also reassure foreign allies that the U.S. will remain a reliable provider of the fossil fuels on which they depend.
A White House spokesman said that “President Biden has led and delivered on the most ambitious climate agenda in history.” He pointed to Biden’s signature climate bill and a recent Environmental Protection Agency rule to reduce methane emissions from oil and gas operations, among other measures.

The envirokazis use to be pro-natural gas
There is nothing ‘green’ about Greenpeace.
They are as RED as the Chinese flag....................
You cannot export this stuff. It encourages the use of gas stoves and ovens, which not only consumes fossil fuels, but people use it to cook and consume meat.
And it provides VERY high paying jobs to people in the poorest states..........can’t have that! It must be stopped NOW!..................
A lot of hardworking skilled labor of the deplorable type that supports MAGA. It needs to stop.
I used to know a guy that was a Head COOK on a gas and oil rig in the Gulf. He was pulling in $100k+ a year.
Of course he was out on the rig for months at a time, so he didn’t have a lot of time to spend any of it...............
One of those jobs where you do it right and keep the crew happy or else you will be swimming with the fishes.
I worked on a rig in the late 70’s, we made a ton of money, with little or no time to spend it. Best damned thing t6hat happened in my life, there is No Such thing as hard work after working on rigs.
We will not have extra for long. Yes, they are nuts.
How was the food?............😎
Not great, but it kept us alive...
I suggest that the libtarded Leftists who constantly seek to undercut or completely stop our production of cheap and dependable energy be given some choices:
1) When the gas or electricity for heat runs out, your house gets cut off before those who backed the energy production. Put on a pair of socks and a sweater if you’re truly committed to your position. Oh, and you get to pay the increased cost of everything in the economy (in the form of higher taxes), caused by your asinine views.
2) Massively build nuclear plants - quickly, and with VERY streamlined regulatory requirements, and protection from lawsuits - to provide heat, A/C, power for lights, TVs, factories, etc.
3) STFU and let the engineers and scientists who actually understand energy production and usage make the decisions, along with the free market.
As an aside, I am very much looking forward to the massive failure of EVs in the next several days as a huge arctic airmass makes most of the country frigid. Let them not be able to start, or run out of juice in a very short time - LET them get stranded in the cold. EVs are a fine idea, in theory...but in practice they are an underdeveloped set of technologies that use an immense amount of scarce resources to build and maintain in operation. Their time MAY come, but that will be decades from now.
He cooked comfort foods, mostly meat, potatoes, veggies and few desserts outside of pies and cakes. All ‘Southern Style’ of course!.................
Society owes an apology to Ayn Rand
Critics said her fictional villains, the self-absorbed socialists and “wreckers,” were too stereotypical, too contrived, to one-dimensional
In fact, we are living through and Ayn Rand novel. They are EXACTLY as she described.
“He stepped to the window and pointed to the skyscrapers of the city. He said that we had to extinguish the lights of the world, and when we would see the lights of New York go out, we would know that our job was done.”
― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
see my next #16 post!.................
Same with the "Endangered" Species Act: set/cost benefit rules that must be applied.
It's only "the law" because Congress made it so.
People, you have to understand the world of gas and oil. You just have to, and that doesn’t happen by reading what some guru says about something.
Go get the raw data, and make damn sure, in the world of gas, that you have cubic meters, not cubic feet. The difference is enormous and when people want to punch the air and indulge in enthusiasm, they will go with cubic feet and really big numbers.
US natural gas reserves . . . 12.8 trillion cubic meters. Look it up.
US nat gas consumption . . . about 950 billion cubic meters per year.
Don’t kneejerk conclude that people who want to restrict exports are crazy.
Yes, more will be found. Well, not found. Natgas is generally not profitable to produce unless it is accompanied by hydrocarbon liquids — which pay the bills. So finding it means you have to find liquids.
Those have already been found.
I fail to see any part of the Constitution that allows the Federal Government to put an end to Natural Gas exports.................
