When The X-Files debuted back in 1993, nobody has ever seen anything quite like it.
Following FBI agents Fox Mulder (played by David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson), the show quickly became something of a pop culture sensation - popularizing the idea of government conspiracies and leading whole generations of people to declare "I want to believe".
The original show ran until 2002 and spawned two feature films before returning for a brief (though much less successful) two-season stint from 2016-2018.
Now, according to the show's original creator Chris Carter, Disney is working on a new X-Files reboot helmed by Ryan Coogler, director of movies like Creed and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
"I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast," Carter told CBC podcast On the Coast with Gloria Macarenko.
"So, he's got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory."
As things stand, we don't know much else about the show or even if David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be appearing in it at all.
From the sounds of it, the reboot will likely feature a whole new cast, perhaps with Mulder and Scully making a cameo appearance to help pass the torch to their successors.

They’re going to nake Scully lame and gay.
Maybe even trans and pedo.
Put a chick in it...make her gay as fuk.
Never watched this series but I imagine Disney will destroy it like everything else they have acquired in recent years.
Disney will eff this all up, in almost every way. It will be loaded with “the message” (H/t Drinker) and completely miss the conspiratorial tone that runs through America.
Kolchak was an inspiration for the X Files, they even cast Darren McGavin in an episode
Probably with “strong and independent female” too
I remember that episode. They also had Roy Thinnis from The Invaders in several episodes.
Both shows did the story of the killer that came back every 40(?) years to “rejuvenate”. Going back through the old computer records, microfiche and then the old newspaper records in the basement.
I love the X-files. I even have the “I want to believe” poster. This news is disappointing. I will never forgive Disney for what they did to Star Wars. Aside from all the other terrible things they have done, their so called trilogy is an absolute travesty. The only exception is Rogue One. Leave the show alone. I watched the whole original show again for the, I’m not sure, maybe 5th time, and was struck by how deep the original plot was that I didn’t really take in as a kid watching it in the 90s. It’s better to just leave a good film or show alone rather than make some poor imitation of it with PC woke garbage.
It was a sequel to the George Pal 1953 film adaptation.
Not a huge fan of the original, but Gillian Anderson was cute back in the name (and now probably too). If she’s not in it, why bother?
*back in the day*
And they will be “surprised” that it like all other disneyy women productions fail.
Still wondering if Hollyweird now exists to launder money for Deep State...
Get a load of this from April...

Might explain the reboot...
The Disney of my youth was golden. Now everything they turn every. single. thing. they touch into a loose, steaming, brown pile of crap with splatter on everything around it.
Yuck.......that “Gillian Anderson” thing in the original is a lefty dork......
espouses anything and everything that denigrates American values.
Probably hoping to resurrect the image of the tarnished FBI.
David Duchovny is another lefty.......was treated for sex addiction.....EV obsessed....and so on.
Who plays the Tranny?
