As we wrote earlier, 2024 GOP presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump gave an interview to syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt on Friday. The interview covered many subjects, including the media attempt in recent days to tie his remarks on immigration to Adolph Hitler, whether Trump would commit to handing over power peacefully if he returns to the White House in 2024, and when he may join the rest of the Republican primary field on the debate stage.

There were also scintillating whispers shared by two sources, reported by Politico, that Trump has been quizzing his inner circle on whether to pick a running mate whose name could spark controversy among his dedicated supporters.

But as I hinted, he spoke with Hewitt about more than those topics. The former president also mulled a short list of potential defense secretaries for his second term in the White House that Hewitt rattled off.
Trump called the suggestions "a good list to start off with." He also added a possible name to the list:
....Trump singled out Christopher Miller, the former Green Beret who served as acting defense secretary for the last two months of Trump’s first term, when asked who he would pick.
Trump told Hewitt, "We had Miller at the end who did a very good job. I thought he was really good. I thought he was very good."
My colleague Streiff wrote about the cacophony of fear-mongering on the Left over the Trump Administration replacing--within 24 hours--not only Secretary of Defense Mark Esper but his chief of staff, the policy chief, and the chief of intelligence in November 2020.

Miller responded positively to Trump dropping his name in connection with the top Pentagon job:
I’m humbled by President Trump’s comments — he was remarkably effective at protecting Americans and advancing our Nation’s interests around the world. I was honored to play a small part. I come from a family of public servants — when asked to serve, we answer the call.
As this is a developing story, RedState will provide more details as they become available.
Mike Pompeo is good. Trump (if hes fortunate enough to win the election) should fill his Cabinet with proven Loyalists. Ben Carson is another one. No one from the swamp.

How about Allen West?
I would like a true Jacksonian America Firstwr in there.
My money’s on Miller. Kash Patel at CIA or NSA.
Jim Jordan for AG
Well there is that.
Don’t know about Sec Def but if he can get Matthew George Whitaker for AG I think that would be an outstanding move. That guy in action for the short time he did the job was great.
Miller by a long shot.
Chief of Staff seems to be a popular spot for backstabbers...so maybe Don Jr or Eric?
And why not Laura Trump for Press Secretary?
Whitaker did nothing to even slow Mueller down while he was acting AG. Literally nothing. He also gave interviews indicating he was anti-Trump in the past as well. I wouldn’t trust that guy myself. Here’s some examples.

Solid choice right there.
Please don’t think I am being rude...but, I HAPPEN TO LOVE MATT WHITTAKER...BUT
I remember when, for a very short time, he was in charge of the DOJ. I cannot, for the life of me, remember ANYTHING he did to try to correct all the wrongs.
If you can tell me some of the things he did, it would support my support for him.
Now, I know, he was surrounded by a plethora of vipers, he would get NO help from the corruption that sucked up everyone at that time.
I just wish I could think of one thing that he did.
Ken Paxton for AG - maybe Supreme Court
In 2017, Whitaker had repeatedly criticized the Mueller investigation on television and on social media and stated that there was no collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. Justice Department ethics officials advised Whitaker that there was no financial, personal, or political conflict that would require him to recuse himself from supervision of the Russia investigation

Besides, I liked they way he handled himself against the smarmy democraps during house and senate testimony.
If Trump could get him to sign a loyalty oath, I think the surprising pick would be DeSantis. He understands the military, would love to clean out all the DEI woke crap, and doesn’t want to start a bunch of wars.
Christopher Miller. By far the best choice.
He may be better off with a random list of supporters.
What are you guys doing?
If you are going to drain the Swamp, you don’t go finding Swamp filth to hire.
The same qualification is required of these positions as for the presidency — the people must not have a political career and must not have held jobs for over 4 years in DC.
These positions should be filled with names Trump knows personally from outside govt.
