On Monday, social media "influencer" and vocal Trump supporter Brandon Straka proclaimed victory in a January 6th-related civil case filed against him by several Capitol Police officers. Straka released this statement on X/Twitter:
🚨VICTORY!!!🚨
I have WON the J6 civil case against me by the corrupt, lying, leftist Soros-funded DC nonprofit lawfirm Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law (@LawyersComm).
Over 2 years ago I was served in a civil lawsuit by 8 black and brown Capitol Police officers whom I’ve never met, had no contact with on J6, and whom I was not even within proximity of.They sued me under the KKK Act, alleging that I engaged in a white supremacist attack on black and brown police officers, that I caused their “injuries” (which included being pepper sprayed, and becoming “exhausted”) and conspired to encroach on their civil rights.
Almost every detail and allegation against me was a lie. In fact I’ll say: a KNOWN lie.
Knowing that I committed no violence on J6, and didn’t encourage anybody else to either, this lawsuit alleged that I “violently” breached the barricades of the Capitol and proceeding to attack police officers- including the plaintiffs.
The case entered discovery, where we gathered evidence that conclusively showed that none of these officers were even on the side of the building I was on during my brief time on Capitol grounds. One of the plaintiffs was in Maryland at the time I was there.
This case cost me well into 6 figures to defend, and hundreds and hundreds of hours of my time- which is, of course, the whole point.
The left has weaponized our legal system, turning Democrat majority districts into a playground where they can abuse the process to harm those who get in the way of their political agendas.
But this case was even too preposterous for the DC courts, and after years of fighting-
I have won. This is a much needed victory for truth, for decency, and for even a shred of restoration of our faith that justice still exists within corners of our legal system.
I thank you all who helped support me through this battle. Your support got me through- and my victory is your victory.
Please share this victory with everyone you know, and God bless you all.

In the video embedded in his X/Twitter statement, Mr. Straka describes how the original dismissal left a legal window open for the plaintiffs to refile some of their claims. Mr. Straka's attorney sent a message, shown in the video, warning them against the notion. The plaintiff's counsel replied with agreement, thus ending the case. Today's announcement was not, then, a court victory as much as an admission from the plaintiffs, following the earlier dismissal, that they were not going to pursue the actions any further.
In the video, Mr. Straka describes how one of the plaintiffs wasn't even in the District of Columbia when the events described in the case occurred, being instead in his home in Annapolis, Maryland. In the statement, Straka describes what appears to be "lawfare" conducted against him in the case.

Thus endeth the case. Note that this is a civil case brought by several Capitol Police officers, not the criminal charges that resulted in Brandon Straka's arrest and indictment.
Mr. Straka was arrested in January of 2021 in Omaha on charges of "impeding a law enforcement officer during civil disorder, knowingly entering and remaining on restricted grounds without lawful authority and/or engaging in disorderly conduct within proximity to a restricted building to impede official functions and engaging in disorderly conduct with intent to disturb a hearing before Congress." He pled guilty to disorderly conduct in October of that year and was sentenced to three years of probation in addition to three months of home detention, a $5,000 fine and $500 restitution. You can view the records of that case here. Straka resumed holding political rallies in 2022 and has been a vocal supporter of J6 detainees as well as former President Donald Trump since.
Brandon Straka, J6 involvement aside, is best known as the co-founder of the "WalkAway" campaign. A self-described "former liberal Democrat," Straka, in a 2018 interview, described his political evolution:
“Once upon a time, I was a liberal,” Straka says in the six-minute video, looking directly toward the camera. “For years now, I have watched as the left has devolved into intolerant, inflexible, illogical, hateful, misguided, ill-informed, un-American, hypocritical, menacing, callous, ignorant, narrow-minded and, at times, blatantly fascistic behavior and rhetoric.”
Presumably, his work with the Walk Away movement will now continue without distraction.
Good news! Shame this lie has taken so long to start falling apart.
Bless him! He is a good person fighting the lies and was almost destroyed for it.
his crime is the walkaway movement
Indeed Good News.
Can he now sue the cops for defamation and libel since the charges were false?
They loathe and despise this guy to no end thx to Walk Away.
It’s a powerful message that drew tons of interest and was summarily targeted by them.
Especially the one who was in Maryland at the time
Excellent!
Now that he’s been mugged, he’s trending conservative
You mean patriot.
Praise God!
this is the first victory on for an accused of J6, fought and vindicated, that i’ve heard of in a corrupt D.C. court. i know all of these convictions are completely bogus.
Mr. Stralka, i hope you counter sue them all to the moon.
+1
Yes, absolutely. In a legitimate, properly functioning 1st World legal system, he should without a doubt be able to successfully do that.
Did these “officers” perjure themselves?
He should wait a couple of years, buy a small house in Texas and sue them in Midland TX, right in the middle of the oil patch and a bugger of a place to get to from DC.
EC
We donated to his legal defense. While I deplore his lifestyle choices, I admire his perseverance against tyranny and the left.
his crime is the walkaway movement
Indeed!
God bless Brandon on the well deserved and overdue victory.
Excellent statement.
He is spot on, about the left’s lawfare. Pure evil.
