As far as I know that is the most basic point of taking hostages in the first place.
The level of desperation amongst the Hama souls
must be reaching astronomical levels at this point.
The losing side is in no position to dictate terms, especially if they have proven themselves treacherous and liars in the past.

Assume the hostages are dead already or will be killed before being set free.

Those that are left alive, if any. They shouldn't be holding hostages at all. They have already expressed and demonstrated a willingness to kill them. Any blood of the hostages is on their hands no matter how it comes about.

If my daughter were a hostage, all I would ask of the government is a rifle and a uniform, and my daughter would agree.
I suspect the hostages are already dead. Some may still be alive, but would have been killed anyway so they can't talk about their treatment in captivity.
By making demands, Hamas can claim it was the Israelis who killed them by not accepting their conditions.

Its a rough situation the IDF has tried hostage rescue made an attempt the other day with two soldiers wounded in the aborted effort.
Of course it’s a rough situation. This is war. If there’s a real chance for success, an attempt should be made. But there is no guarantee of success.

The pro Hamas terrorist protests have failed and are dying out. Israel won the PR war. There will be no ceasefire. Now its just a matter of mopping up Hamas.
I really hope that you’re right. My big worry is the desperation that Biden and his handlers feel, and how that is driving our foreign policy, protests or not. We can still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, especially with these Leftist arseholes in charge.
The US just vetoed a UN ceasefire resolution. I was surprised as it appears Biden is getting cold feet. He did warn Israel to wrap up the operation by 12/31.
