We know that antisemitism is out of control on college campuses, and we just had three university presidents testify that calling for genocide isn't a violation of the code of conduct … it depends on the context, like if a student were to actually start killing Jews. That might be taking it a bit too far. But if you misgender someone on campus, that's "abuse."

We've often asked where these college-age kids developed such a deep antisemitism. We doubt it was from their parents. Is it all indoctrination by university professors? Or is it because they get their news from TikTok?

The Economist recently did a poll and found that one in five young Americans think the Holocaust is a myth. We've seen use of the word "victim-caust," implying that Jews just use the Holocaust to claim victim status when they're really the oppressors.

That's really bad.

A new poll from YouGov/_The Economist_ suggests that Yad Vashem has its work cut out. Young Americans—or at least the subset of them who take part in surveys—appear to be remarkably ignorant about one of modern history’s greatest crimes. Some 20% of respondents aged 18-29 think that the Holocaust is a myth, compared with 8% of those aged 30-44 (see chart). An additional 30% of young Americans said they do not know whether the Holocaust is a myth. Many respondents espouse the canard that Jews wield too much power in America: young people are nearly five times more likely to think this than are those aged 65 and older (28% versus 6%).

Now for the harder part: why do some young Americans embrace such views? Perhaps surprisingly, education levels do not appear to be the culprit. In our poll, the proportion of respondents who believe that the Holocaust is a myth is similar across all levels of education.

Social media might play a role. According to a 2022 survey from the Pew Research Centre, Americans under 30 are about as likely to trust information on social media as they are to trust national news organisations. More recently Pew found that 32% of those aged 18-29 get their news from TikTok. Social-media sites are rife with conspiracy theories, and research has found strong associations between rates of social-media use and beliefs in such theories. In one recent survey by Generation Lab, a data-intelligence company,young adults who used TikTok were more likely to hold antisemitic beliefs.

My father taught me about the Holocaust when I was a freshman in high school. As parents it's our responsibility to educate our children. If we don't, we shouldn't be surprised at numbers like this.

And before that they had the Civil Guard where military trained citizens patrolled their neighborhoods armed. I was told that car theft was the first statistic that went down as the locals knew who belonged in which car. But the ideologues in the press and elsewhere must have convinced the public about the wonderment of a disarmed population.

I reject your claims completely. I specifically remember reading that a rule was promulgated a few months before 911 that all American pilots were to be disarmed. From a 1988 ruling, one can expect some exceptions to have been generated over the years.

Again, the Civil Guard in Israel enhanced security. But that is the sort of relationship between the government and the people that modern governments appear to want to avoid.

It was so sad and shocking to see a bunch of seemingly disorganized Hamas men driving around towns in Israel and then parking in the middle of a street. The video taken was from a balcony several floors up. They were sitting ducks and could have easily been defeated from that vantage. But no one defended themselves, why? Because the general population of Israel had been disarmed by the government. How could the Israeli government had been so stupid? When asking for the causes and people responsible for this disaster the Israelis should look at their own government as well.

It was really chilling, watching those videos. So surreal, and drove home how important our second amendment is.

How easy it would be for an armed mob in pickups and jeeps to cause havoc in a town where idiotic selfrighteous people have disarmed themselves? The blood of the innocent would be in their hands, as much as in the hands of the attackers.

Protect our right to self defense! Protect the second amendment! And more than that, arm yourself, not because of fear, but because it is your civic duty.

My Father, E-6 Infantry Army helped liberate Dachau. Like many of our troops who first arrived, he threw up and cried. He/we rarely talked much about his war experiences. Towards his end, and I as an E-6 Sailor during the Cold War, he gave me the respect when I finally asked him why he hates people so much. He asked me if I've ever seen the photos/evidence of the horrors Dachau and Auschwitz?

I said yes. He asked "anymore more questions, Son?" I was dumbstruck and literally speechless. I knew he fought his way through Belgium, France, and Germany. But to find out he was at Dachau and all he encountered to get there and then to see such atrocity, I understood his reticence to talk about his WWII experiences and why he had such low regard for humans.

This was a man who had seen the worse of our species, but would cuddle and kiss a puppy in our home. Tell me he or I was wrong about killing ALL those bastards.

From a soldier on his death bed, he also asked me if he and his Band of Brothers were wrong to take the guards out and kill them point blank?

I said, no Dad. I added that it wasn't good enough for the Allies to gather the townsfolk and show them what they already knew. I also asked if the local town officials should have been lined up with the Nazis and killed in their turn. He simply said YES!. That was the end of our military conversations.
