Yeah, it reminds me of a part of a Monty Python sketch.

Interviewee: Well, he had to. I had transgressed the unwritten law.

Interviewer: What had you done?

Interviewee: Well, he didn’t tell me that But he assured me that I had and that’s good enough for me.

There is no cure for the British sense of humor. Once you have learned how it works, it becomes an addiction you never quite give up.

John Cleese and Michael Palin were absolutely the best in writing sketches. I think their entire association was nothing more than feeding off each other’s comedic genius.
